[00:00:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Streaming powerful biblically based messages.

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_01]: This congregation may never be gathered together again as we see it.

[00:01:14] [SPEAKER_05]: Our guest speaker is based in West Virginia, in the United States of America.

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_05]: More about our guest after we've had some music.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_06]: Angels to beckon me, nearer my God to thee.

[00:03:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Nearer my God to thee.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_07]: Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Wilderness Productions

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_05]: How should Christians dress?

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_05]: We will be studying this subject tonight with Sister Sharon Ziesma.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Sister Sharon is a Christian health educator in the area of natural health, diet and nutrition,

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_05]: hydrotherapy, medicinal herbs and alternative home remedies.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_05]: She has taught health courses in Southern California, New Hampshire, Maryland,

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_05]: West Virginia, Louisiana, Texas and Ohio in the United States of America

[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_05]: and Germany, Hungary, Serbia and England.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Sister Sharon currently runs the Beehive Lifestyle Natural Center in Berkeley Springs.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Hello, good evening, Sister Sharon.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Good evening, you are live on Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_05]: How are you this evening, Sister Sharon?

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm doing great, Brother John. Happy to be with you all.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Praise the Lord. Glad to hear so.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, tonight Sister Sharon we will be discussing these questions together.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_05]: What is dress?

[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_05]: What directions does God give us about dress?

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_05]: How has sin affected our dress?

[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_05]: What reform is needed with dress?

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_05]: And how can we practically carry this out, this reform today?

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_05]: So Sister Sharon before we start our discussion this evening,

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_05]: shall we have a word of prayer together?

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, you can pray please Sister Sharon to go forward.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, absolutely. Father in heaven, we are so thankful to bow in your presence.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_00]: For Lord we know that it is your presence that we always need.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We recognize dear God that you are our sovereign majesty.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And we ask that we understand that you are more than a sovereign majesty.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: We are your children.

[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And Lord, we know that you care about us.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And all the things in your wonderful word you've given to us as light and life and direction.

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And Father I pray that this message today will honor you.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And Father that we'll be out of the way and your Holy Spirit will have his way in Jesus name. Amen.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen.

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Sister Sharon, what is dress?

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Dress is clothing or an apparel or garments that one wears.

[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_00]: If you look in the dictionary it says that which is used as the covering or ornament of the body.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Clothes.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: In dress a lady is either modest or else she has a false taste.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Something that is becoming or unbecoming.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And I've looked at some Bible texts as well.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_05]: And as you said, we can look at Genesis chapter 9 and verse 23.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_05]: That's Genesis chapter 9 verse 23.

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_05]: It says here.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Should I wait for you to turn in your Bible as well, Sister Sharon?

[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I'm just about to. Go ahead.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Right. It says here Genesis chapter 9 verse 23.

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_05]: And Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon their shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_05]: And their faces were backward and they saw not their father's nakedness.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And there's also a couple other Bible texts that I'd like to share as well.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Just again to re-emphasize this point.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_05]: It's what Judges chapter 17 and verse 10.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And it says that Micah said unto him, Dwell with me and be unto me a father and a priest

[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_05]: and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the year and a suit of apparel and by their victuals.

[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_05]: So the Levite went in.

[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_05]: And then we see again Zechariah chapter 3 and sorry Genesis chapter 37 and verse 29.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_05]: And it says and Reuben returned unto the pit and behold Joseph was not in the pit and he rent his clothes.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_05]: So we see that the Bible for my study does not use the word dress as that we use in the English word today

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_05]: to describe the clothes that a person wears on.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_05]: As you stated and uses words like garment and also apparel, clothes or raiment.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And in essence they all mean a covering to place over our naked bodies in essence.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_05]: So I just want to share those texts as well.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_05]: So now then yes what directions does God give us about dress?

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, first Timothy 2 9 says in like manner also that women adorn themselves in modest apparel

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: with shame, facetness and sobriety not with broided hair or gold.

[00:09:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And so God has told us that our dress should be representative.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_00]: What's inside first Timothy 2 9.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to begin but this time in the New Living Translation and I want women to be modest in their apparel.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fixed their hair

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_00]: or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And you know modest moderation means decency moderate is not excessive or extreme.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not extravagant and shame.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Faith in this means bashful or an excess of modesty.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: When he talks about being sober, it's a habitual freedom from enthusiasm inordinate passion

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_00]: or overheated imagination, a calmness and a coolness.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a sober sober way of thinking.

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: First Peter 3 verse 3 and 4 who's adorning let it not be that outward adorning

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: of plaiting hair of wearing of gold of putting on of apparel but let it be the hidden man at the heart

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_00]: in that which is not corruptible even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: which is in the sight of God of great price.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And after this men in old time the holy women also who trusted in God adorn themselves being in subjection to their own husbands.

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord whose daughters you are as long as you do well

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and are not afraid with any amazement.

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I've got an experience with that many years ago.

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I was afraid of submitting to my husband in things.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought after prayer and really wanting to obey God that things didn't turn out the way I thought it would.

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I seem to have even more freedom because a man needs to know that he's a man.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It also says that spiritual adornment is the reality.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Physical adornment is the symbol of that reality.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: What our external clothing is a visual representative of our spiritual clothing.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Dressing modestly first that we're not defiant toward God.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Both Adam and Eve had been defiantly toward God.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read Genesis 6 10.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise,

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: she took the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also to her husband with her.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: And he did eat and the eyes of them both were open and they knew that they were naked and they sold fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And the Lord God called unto Adam and said to him, Where art thou?

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked and I hid myself.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So here we have the example of Adam and Eve and recognizing their nakedness after sin now uncovered.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: They sold for themselves fig leaf garments and they were just aprons.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Leaves were never used in that way before.

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: You know that they had to have done it out of desperation to cover themselves.

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: How long could a fig leaf stay alive, cut off from the parent source?

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_00]: So here lies a quick lesson for us.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_00]: How long can we stay spiritually alive, cut off from God who is the source of our spiritual life?

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So what did God give them in exchange for their no doubt by now wilting fig leaves?

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Something that covered their nakedness.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It was durable. It was lasting.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: It was adequate for the post-sin temperature.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, now there'd be a change in temperature, changes that they would inevitably now experience.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Unto Adam in verse 21, Also unto his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins and clothe them.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_00]: So here the Bible doesn't say that God skinned animals and gave them to Adam and Eve and said,

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Here make coverings out of these.

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We saw the mess that they made out of the fig leaves.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: No, in his infinite wisdom seeing the future temperature changes, he made coats of skins and he clothe them.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_00]: He still wanted them to have something adequate to preserve the health of their bodies,

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: which would also affect the mental and spiritual health.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Right. Right.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, thanks very much for your thoughts there, Sister Zee.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_05]: And that moves us onto now thoughts that you've shared with us initially.

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_05]: How has sin affected our dress?

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, a large majority of people did not address for health anymore.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Clothes that are too tight restrict the body functions.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Ill-fitting clothes can cause discomfort, restrict movement, even lead to health issues.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Tight clothing can cause circulation problems, skin chafing, respiratory issues.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: On the other hand, clothes that are too loose or too long may cause physical accidents like tripping or getting cotton objects.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Wardrobe loneliness, how your clothes affect your health.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I read a little article and it says, for instance, extremely tight clothes can put a stress on the stomach,

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the intestines, which could in turn lead to digestive issues.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_00]: If the clothing is too tight and presses against the skin, it could affect blood flow and lead to nerve damage.

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Apart from these, wearing clothes too tight can cause skin irritation, itching, fungal infections.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: If your clothes are leaving a mark or pressure marks on your skin or making it difficult for you to breathe, you must avoid wearing them.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Other physical effects of clothing.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Studies show a direct link in chemicals in clothing now because we have so many mixed fabrics.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The chemicals often found in these garments or that are used in the production have linked to neurotoxic.

[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Kidney and lung disorders, cancer, and even more.

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_00]: So health is the key here.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: What the Bible says, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you,

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: which ye have of God, you're not your own, for you're bought with the price.

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit with your gods.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: In other words, how are we addressing his property?

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Your bodies are not your own.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: If your bodies, if our bodies belong to us, then it wouldn't matter too much what we decided to do with it, would it?

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: It says, know ye not that ye are the temple of God, that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you.

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_00]: If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy.

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_00]: For the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: That's 1 Corinthians 3.13.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And then Proverbs 11.22 says, like a gold ring and a pig snout is a beautiful woman without discretion.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs 31.25 says, strength and dignity are her clothing.

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And she laughs at the time to come because she's prepared.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Proverbs 31.30 says, charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman fears the Lord is to be praised.

[00:17:48] Yes.

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, Sister Zizmah, we can see that spirituality and dress, there's a correlation, isn't there?

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_05]: There is a relationship, you know.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Absolutely.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, and I believe that this is one of the most important points that we need to bring out to the listeners.

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_05]: Because some people feel that it doesn't really matter what I put on.

[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_05]: It's my body.

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_05]: I can do what I like.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_05]: And if you don't like it, then that's your problem.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_05]: But they don't realize that there's a great controversy going on.

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And, you know, dresses, fashion isn't something that just comes out of the air.

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_05]: It's, you know, this is something that's purposely designed, whether it's for your health, whether it's for your destruction.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'd just like to share two other Bible texts because Sister Zizmah has so kindly shared, just reeled off for us,

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Bible texts that explain the nature between spirituality and dress.

[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And Ezekiel chapter 16 and verses 49 to 50, listen to this as well, listeners.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_05]: As Ezekiel chapter 16, verses 49 to 50, it says,

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_05]: And they were haughty and committed abomination before me.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Therefore I took them away as I saw good.

[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_05]: And then now in Proverbs 16 and verse 18, it says,

[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_05]: You see, so the Bible teaches us that haughty people, proud people are those who commit abominations before the Lord.

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Now, why am I sharing this?

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Why is Sister Sharon sharing what she's sharing?

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Isaiah chapter 3, verses 18 to 24, it explains again,

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_05]: It's going over what Sister Sharon is sharing.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_05]: And just to give another insight to listeners so that you can see.

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Now look, so why is it that the Lord wants us to understand that pride goes before destruction?

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Look at what goes with expensive fashions.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_05]: The Lord says moreover, the Lord saith, Behold, the daughters of Zion are haughty, you see.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_05]: And the walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_05]: And it says, Therefore the Lord will smite of a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion,

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_05]: and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_05]: Now look, in that day, the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_05]: and their calls in the round tires like the moon, the chains, the bracelets, the muffers,

[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_05]: the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings.

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_05]: And it goes on, the rings, the knolls, jewels, the changeable suits of apparel,

[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_05]: and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_05]: the glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the veils.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_05]: And it shall come to pass that instead of a sweet smell there shall be a stink,

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_05]: and instead of a girdle, a rent, instead of well set hair baldness,

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and instead of a stomacher, a girdle of sackcloth, and burning instead of beauty.

[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_05]: So you see the Bible teaches us that one of the sins that follows pride is extravagance in dress.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_05]: And extravagance in dress is not just buying expensive clothing, is it, Sister Zee?

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_05]: That's right.

[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's to use the extra money that you have as well

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_05]: that God designs for you to give to the poor for one's own expensive clothes wardrobe, you see?

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_05]: And so we see that sin has affected our dress sense, because through sin we become selfish.

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_05]: And it separates ourselves from God.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_05]: And as Assistant Sharon has said earlier, that's the spirit, stubbornness,

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_05]: not willing to do what God wants us to do.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And as she, well I would say, normally said, she didn't want to submit to her husband initially,

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_05]: but she wanted to follow God's will and found that she's happier,

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I should say, following God's will and submitting to her husband in accordance to his will.

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Both of us.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_05]: You see? Yes.

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_05]: And I was just introducing that, as you said, Sister Sharon, so you see?

[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So listeners, you see, we are broadcasting these radio programs

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_05]: because we would like you to know that in our experience, where we are,

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_05]: we know that following God's will is the best for our happiness.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_05]: You see? And dress, following, there's, God has given us specific directions for dress,

[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_05]: and if we follow them, life would be much more happier.

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_05]: So Sister Sharon, I'll hand over to you now as we continue, what reform is needed with dress?

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's time to get back to the basics.

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: First, we have to consider what God says about it.

[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_00]: We choose clothing that, clothes that are decent in His eyes,

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_00]: not clothes that are provocative, seductive, that honor nakedness.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_00]: When we dress decently, we recognize that God ordained clothes to cover

[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and not draw attention to our naked skin.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: We cover up out of respect for Him, the gospel and other people

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and out of respect for who He made us to be.

[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Which clothes are good for health?

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, we have to consider that in our reform.

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Soft, light and gentle on the skin, breathable, highly absorbent,

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: hypoallergenic in nature, you know, that is not causing allergies to the skin.

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And healthy fabrics are skin friendly and environmentally safe.

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Some skin friendly fabrics include cotton, silk, wool, flax,

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and they are ultimately natural products to keep our skin happy and healthy.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to share something that the world is saying now about dress.

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_00]: In a December 12, 2019 article published by GBC College English,

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_00]: it says English Lemonade.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: The question is asked, is it okay for men to wear dresses?

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_00]: The answer given is this, it actually looks good, really good when it fits right.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's nothing wrong with a man in a skirt or dress.

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not all men, but many men want to wear skirts and like the way it looks,

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_00]: just like many women don't like to wear pants for reasons like comfort and style.

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Why should men be any different?

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That was in December 2019, interestingly written by a lady named Jezebel Manrui.

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: This makes me think of a text of scripture, Judges 17, 6.

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did what was right in his own eyes.

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And 2 Kings 1, 16 he told the king, this is what the Lord says,

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_00]: is it because there is no God in Israel for you to consult that you have sent messengers

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_00]: to consult with Baals above, the King of Akron?

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Because you have done this, you will never leave your bed you're lying in.

[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You will certainly die.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It shows you God's seriousness.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What does God say about men wearing women's clothes and women wearing men's?

[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Deuteronomy 22, 5 King James Version says,

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_00]: The woman shall not wear that which retaineth unto a man,

[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_00]: neither shall a man put on a woman's garment.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_00]: For all who do, so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: And the New International Version reads,

[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_00]: A woman must not put on men's clothing,

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: a man must not wear women's clothing.

[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the Lord your God.

[00:26:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, you know these are very strong statements that the Lord makes.

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_05]: And listeners, God says what he means.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_05]: And it's not just for physical dressed alone.

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_05]: There is a spiritual reason as well behind it.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Because these fashions come from Satanism basically.

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not just how we feel, is it?

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, it isn't at all.

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know I'll just say this Sister Sharon,

[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_05]: because I was speaking to an individual about this before,

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Obviously I'm careful as a man.

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_05]: These things are down to personal conviction.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_05]: But I just simply said, Jesus said if you love me keep my commandments.

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_05]: So if you love him, if he asks you for a woman to wear on a woman's clothes

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_05]: that are pertinent to her,

[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_05]: and the man to wear on clothes that are pertinent to him,

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_05]: what is the issue?

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Why is it that you're saying that you love Jesus,

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_05]: but then you're not willing to dress the way that Jesus wants you to dress basically.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_05]: And so God is, you know Sister Sharon,

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_05]: at times I marvel at the wisdom of God.

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Because he is love itself.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Love comes from God.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_05]: He knows us better than we know ourselves.

[00:27:46] [SPEAKER_05]: And he knows just how to test us to see if we truly love him.

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, we're just saying this to encourage listeners as well,

[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_05]: because yes this is a struggle, we're in the struggle.

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_05]: We're all sinners seeking to be saved by God's grace.

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_05]: But we need to be saved in God's appointed way.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_05]: As Sister Sharon said, it's not for us to do what we feel is right.

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_05]: God knows what's best for us, for our happiness.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_05]: You see, so especially with dress reform,

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_05]: wherever the Lord says, let us always remember that what he says is for our best.

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And Brother John, when we decide to wear what we decide to wear,

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_00]: we are making our own fig leaf garments.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, you see.

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: We are trying to do something that cannot really fulfill God's plan for us.

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And he was looking out for our health.

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_00]: He was looking out for our mental state.

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, how much do you think of good things when you're freezing cold

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_00]: or when you're super hot or when you're sick

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_00]: or whatever the case may be when your lungs are filled up

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and you know you're sick or you're dying of cancer or something else.

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, how do you think of God at that time?

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't want fig leaf garments.

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_00]: We want the garments that God gives to us.

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: They will supply our needs.

[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, most certainly, Sister Sharon.

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm glad that you're making this known to the listening audience

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_05]: because God has eternal wisdom.

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Do we really believe that God hasn't fought everything out?

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_05]: You see.

[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And you know, so yes, I appreciate what you're sharing with us this evening,

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Sister Sharon, because sometimes I think that people think that God is just an old-fashioned God

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_05]: and that he doesn't know the latest.

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_05]: He's in the past.

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't know the latest science or technology.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_05]: But no, he's far ahead.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Eternally ahead.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, looking back.

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_05]: You know, yes, and looking back as well in all areas.

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_05]: So we can't outsmart God.

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_05]: Basically, science will ever, ever be trying to catch up.

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_05]: So listeners, hear what Sister Sharon is saying.

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_05]: As she said, God's covered all the areas.

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_05]: So the simple thing is for us to lovingly submit and enjoy life as he designs.

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_05]: You see, you know, as she said, God is sensible.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_05]: He knows what's right for our health, to keep us warm, you know,

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_05]: and to keep the chills out in all different areas and to keep diseases away.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_05]: So this is the reason why we're having this radio broadcast this evening,

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_05]: just to encourage us to do what God says.

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, one thing I'd like to add.

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Also, when the limbs are exposed, it drives the blood deep into the trunk of the body,

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_00]: which is wearing on the heart, wearing on the liver,

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_00]: wearing on the stomach, wearing on all the vital organs of the body.

[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And so even when we dress improperly so that the limbs are not covered evenly,

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_00]: you break the flow of circulation, driving the blood back away from the feet.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_00]: And you wonder why people end up with poor circulation in the legs and in the feet, you know?

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And if that circulation were even, evened out,

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_00]: then it would bring the blood to all the areas of the body and you'd have a balanced health.

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, amen.

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Without taxing any one area.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, most certainly.

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Well, Sister Sharon, there's...

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_05]: Now, we simply ask people who will be struggling, struggling and asking,

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_05]: well, how can we practically carry this out?

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, once again, rather than consulting fashion, how about consulting God?

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to read this again.

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_00]: One more time I'll read the same one.

[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_00]: In those days there was no king in Israel.

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Every man did what was right in his own eyes.

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, there is a God.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: There is a God and even our Father.

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And we want to consult Him.

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: 2 Corinthians 6, 17 says,

[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So go away from the worldly norm and go to God's sensibility.

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Philippians 4, 13 says,

[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_00]: So we need to recognize also that we need help in making the smallest decisions.

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Jeremiah 10, 23 refers to this.

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I know that the way of man is not in himself.

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_00]: It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And the New Living Translation says,

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_00]: So when we come to the place where we recognize that,

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: then we will consult God and say, well, Lord, how do you look at things?

[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll begin reading the Word to get our answers.

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So it includes 1 Thessalonians 5, 22 and 23 abstain from every form of evil.

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely.

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: The Word of God is plain. He'll make that plain for us.

[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to conclude with this.

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Fear God, keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: For God will bring every work into judgment with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.

[00:34:35] [SPEAKER_00]: We have to remember that to fear God is to keep His commandments.

[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And if He has shared something with us, then it is for us.

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_00]: And we should follow that.

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to look at how we have taken the things of His Word and how we have used them or misused them,

[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_00]: whether we have listened to them or whether we have deemed them not important.

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And I tell you, because He loves us so much and He has proved that love in sending His Son to die for us.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_00]: The most expensive trip, the most expensive journey that anyone could ever take in order to redeem man from his sins,

[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_00]: to take His place so that we can have life.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And so even though we may perish in this mortal body, He has promised to give us immortal bodies.

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And He has promised even now to clothe us with His righteousness.

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's an ability to do what He tells us to do so we can pray for those things and we can know that the promise of His Holy Spirit will make those things make sense to us

[00:35:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and will give us eyes to see, ears to hear.

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And take away the stubbornness out of our hearts because we are stubborn by nature. We're sinful by nature.

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_00]: But God takes us above that and He gives us everything complete in Christ our Saviour.

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen. Yes. Well, Sister Sharon, we'll have a break for some music and we'll come back with some closing thoughts.

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_06]: I love to tell the story of unseen things above,

[00:36:44] [SPEAKER_06]: of Jesus and His glory,

[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_06]: of Jesus and His love.

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_06]: I love to tell the story because I know it is true.

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_06]: It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

[00:37:17] [SPEAKER_06]: I love to tell the story, will be my theme in glory,

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_06]: to tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_06]: When Him sings of glory, I sing the new, new song.

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_06]: It will be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

[00:38:15] [SPEAKER_06]: I love to tell the story, will be my theme in glory,

[00:38:27] [SPEAKER_06]: to tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_05]: How should Christians dress? Sister Sharon, can we have some closing thoughts please?

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Our Father in heaven, it has been wonderfully, just a wonderful time to be with you and to be able to share.

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I thank you, Lord, that your word is so pure and so true.

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thank you also that we can count on it.

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Lord, you spoke and everything happened. Everything stood fast.

[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_00]: You saw that things were good.

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And Lord, I pray that we will all come to trust you explicitly

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and all the things that you share with us to do in our lives.

[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And trust, dear Lord, that though we might fear changes,

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: that you will give us only that which is best for us.

[00:39:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And in the end, we will be praising your name.

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And Lord, we look for that clothing of immortality that you have promised us in the future.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_00]: And so, Lord, I ask that you will bless every listener and myself and Brother John

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_00]: to have that happen to us in the future.

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And Lord, we're looking to you and in the meantime, listening to you and obeying in Jesus' name. Amen.

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen.
