[00:39:02] Or are we by our attitudes, brothers and sisters, leading our young people down a road which is predisposing them to disbelieve the words of God?

[00:39:17] What about the literature that we are prepared for our young people to study in our schools?

[00:39:23] A young man that I know in Australia was studying for his matriculation examination, English literature.

[00:39:38] His mother said to him, hey, let's have a look at that novel that you're reading.

[00:39:43] This is a Seventh-day Adventist young man.

[00:39:46] Oh, mum, he said, oh, no.

[00:39:50] I couldn't do that.

[00:39:51] I'm too embarrassed for you to read it.

[00:39:54] You see, this was semi-pornographic literature.

[00:39:58] I don't know why we add the word semi.

[00:40:00] This is supposed to be classical literature, you know, that can be read by mature minds because of its literary merit, in inverted commas.

[00:40:18] And the mother expressed shock to me about the fact that her boy was studying such literature.

[00:40:26] I might add, in a Seventh-day Adventist school, and I said, well, what did you do about it?

[00:40:33] What could I do?

[00:40:35] It's the state requirement.

[00:40:37] That's one of the set textbooks in the English examination.

[00:40:41] And if you don't pass English, no matter how well you do in all the other subjects, you can't matriculate.

[00:40:48] I don't know whether that's the case in England, but it certainly is in Australia, that English is compulsory.

[00:40:54] You can pass all your other four or five subjects at the highest level, but if you fail English, you fail the matriculation.

[00:41:03] And so she said, what can I do?

[00:41:05] That's the state requirement.

[00:41:10] Brothers and sisters, what would you do in a circumstance like that?

[00:41:17] Here we are telling our young people that they should die rather than commit a known sin,

[00:41:24] and yet we say, well, if their education's at stake, let them sin.

[00:41:29] Let them sin.

[00:41:33] How much do we love Jesus?

[00:41:37] I want to ask you that.

[00:41:41] How much do we love Jesus?

[00:41:44] Do you think that our God would disadvantage our children if we held the highest standards of Christian education before them?

[00:41:59] Do you really think he would disadvantage them?

[00:42:05] You know, it was an interesting thing.

[00:42:07] That year, there was one Seventh-day Adventist school that refused to teach that sort of literature.

[00:42:14] The incredible fact was it was the only Seventh-day Adventist school that got every student through the English examination at the level that they had sat.

[00:42:29] That was the interesting thing.

[00:42:30] Those that taught it because they had to do it, numbers of the students didn't reach the level that they sat.

[00:42:39] But in the one school that took the stand, everyone was past the level.

[00:42:46] There is a God in heaven, and I hope at the end of our meeting, each one of us will remember that.

[00:42:54] There is a God in heaven.

[00:42:57] A powerful God.

[00:42:59] God who loves us and cares for us.

[00:43:06] Let us read Moses.

[00:43:14] Deuteronomy chapter 6 and verse 7.

[00:43:20] Let's read the sixth verse first.

[00:43:24] And these words which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart,

[00:43:31] and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
