Radio show presented by Brother John Noel on 31st December 2023.
[00:00:00] Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Enlightened in the World Every Week
[00:00:08] It's not just knowing about the doctrine in the Bible, that is not what we stand for here
[00:00:14] Streaming powerful Biblical-based messages lying down in the air
[00:00:19] This congregation may never be gathered together again as we see it
[00:00:23] Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Enlightened in the World Every Week
[00:00:29] Good evening, welcome to Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio
[00:00:51] We are streaming live from the internet from London
[00:00:55] This show is dedicated to God through our Lord Jesus Christ
[00:01:01] On tonight's programme we will be discussing the third of a four part series
[00:01:07] about the restoration of the family unit
[00:01:11] We will be studying what the Bible teaches about childhood
[00:01:16] More about our subject after you've heard some music
[00:02:11] I know the spirit is gone
[00:02:20] And all my worldly...
[00:02:24] Oh, I want to know you more
[00:02:41] Deep within my soul
[00:03:15] Now the gentle arms of Jesus
[00:04:13] Warm my heart with you
[00:04:18] Be my child
[00:05:07] Lord, I want to know you more
[00:05:10] The restoration of the family unit
[00:05:55] Part 3, Childhood
[00:05:59] We will discuss this subject tonight with answers from the Bible
[00:06:03] Have a pen and paper ready to write down some notes
[00:06:07] Tonight we will be discussing these questions together
[00:06:12] For what purpose is a child to be born?
[00:06:16] What qualities is the gospel to restore to a child?
[00:06:21] How is a child to relate to its parents at home?
[00:06:25] When does a child become an adult?
[00:06:28] And why is the fifth commandment important for a child?
[00:06:33] So before we have our study this evening, let's have a word of prayer
[00:06:38] Heavenly Father, thank you for voicing the wilderness
[00:06:43] Internet radio streaming live from London
[00:06:47] Lord as we study your word this evening
[00:06:50] We ask for your Holy Spirit to be with us
[00:06:53] Teach us and open our minds and hearts to your word of truth is our prayer
[00:06:58] In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
[00:07:00] Amen
[00:07:05] Now for what purpose is a child to be born?
[00:07:09] We read in the book of Romans chapter 9 verse 11
[00:07:13] For the children being not yet born
[00:07:17] Neither having done any good or evil
[00:07:20] That the purpose of God according to election might stand
[00:07:24] Not of works but of him that called if
[00:07:29] The first point that we need to establish tonight listeners
[00:07:32] Is that the Bible teaches us that until a child is born
[00:07:36] Then a child is not either done good or evil
[00:07:42] This clearly lets us know that good and evil
[00:07:45] Is determined by a person's choice and actions
[00:07:49] We see therefore that a person's character
[00:07:52] Is not based upon the human body that they are born with
[00:07:58] We read in the book of Psalms chapter 51 verse 5
[00:08:02] Behold, I was shapen in iniquity
[00:08:05] And incended my mother conceived me
[00:08:08] Many people misunderstand this Bible text
[00:08:13] David's mother conceived and shaped him in a fallen sinful flesh
[00:08:19] This Bible text does not say that David was a sinner
[00:08:22] And was aniquitous as soon as he was conceived
[00:08:26] This text is placed in Scripture to show us
[00:08:31] That after Adam's fall, children have inherited fallen sinful human nature
[00:08:36] From their parents when they are formed in the womb
[00:08:40] From birth listeners we all have passed onto our
[00:08:44] Cereditary traits of evil, sinful flesh
[00:08:48] But until we are born and make our own choices in life
[00:08:53] As we read in the previous Bible texts
[00:08:56] Then we can neither do good or evil
[00:08:59] Sin is a choice, not nature
[00:09:03] This truth overturns all the lies in modern society
[00:09:08] And the various forms of discrimination
[00:09:11] Whether based upon caste, colour, gender or social background
[00:09:16] Which claim that one race or nationality or sex is better than another
[00:09:22] Every child born into this world is born into this world innocent
[00:09:27] And given a chance to understand God's purpose in accordance to His will
[00:09:32] And given a chance to decide for Him or for herself to do good or to do evil
[00:09:39] We read in the book of Proverbs chapter 22 and verse 6
[00:09:44] Train up a child in the way he should go
[00:09:47] And when he is old, he will not depart from it
[00:09:51] We read in the book of John chapter 14 and verse 6
[00:09:55] Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life
[00:10:02] No man cometh unto the Father but by me
[00:10:07] All children that are born into this world
[00:10:10] Are to be trained by their parents in the way that they should go
[00:10:14] The way that children should go, the Bible explains
[00:10:18] Is found by following Jesus Christ the Lord
[00:10:22] Who is the way, the truth and the life
[00:10:26] Children as well as adults can only come unto God the Father
[00:10:30] By Jesus Christ the Son of God
[00:10:33] Any religion or faith that does not teach this
[00:10:37] Is actually denying children direct access to the God of Heaven
[00:10:43] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 3 and verses 9-10
[00:10:48] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin
[00:10:52] For his seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God
[00:10:58] In this the children of God are manifest and the children of the devil
[00:11:03] Whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother
[00:11:10] We read in the book of 1 Peter chapter 1 and verse 23
[00:11:15] We can be born again not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible
[00:11:20] By the word of God which liveth and abideth forever
[00:11:25] We also read in the book of John chapter 6 and verses 53 and 60 and 63
[00:11:32] Then Jesus said unto them
[00:11:35] Verily, verily, I say unto you
[00:11:38] Accept ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood
[00:11:42] You have no life in you
[00:11:45] And therefore of his disciples when they had heard this said
[00:11:49] This is an hard saying, who can hear it?
[00:11:54] It is the spirit that quickeneth Jesus said
[00:11:57] The flesh profiteth nothing
[00:11:59] The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life
[00:12:05] The Bible explains that whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin
[00:12:11] God's children do not sin because God's seed remains in them
[00:12:16] God's seed is his word
[00:12:19] God's word lives and abides forever because it has life-giving power and is eternal
[00:12:26] Jesus Christ, the Creator of mankind who is eternal has made it plain that man is to live by his words
[00:12:35] And so we can see that it is God's purpose for children that are born into this world to live by his word forever
[00:12:43] This is what adults need to understand when they bring a child into this world
[00:12:48] And what children ought to be taught to understand
[00:12:51] They ought to be taught to understand that they can only have the power to love and to do good
[00:12:57] And not to sin if they give their hearts to Jesus and submit their lives to receive the seed of his living word
[00:13:04] We read in a book of 1 John 4 verses 8-9
[00:13:09] He that love if not, nor if not God, for God is love
[00:13:14] In this was manifested the love of God toward us
[00:13:18] Because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him
[00:13:25] We read in a book of 1 John 5 verses 11-13
[00:13:30] And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life and this life is in his son
[00:13:37] He that have the son have life and he that have not the son of God have not life
[00:13:42] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the son of God
[00:13:47] That you may know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the son of God
[00:13:53] Mankind, male and female, whether child or adult were created to live through the son of God
[00:14:03] It is recreation and also through redemption that God seeks to restore his purpose of love again
[00:14:10] Towards us through Jesus Christ, the son of God, the central being of the universe
[00:14:18] Now what qualities is the gospel to restore to a child?
[00:14:23] We read in a book of Luke chapter 2 verses 40 and 42 and 52
[00:14:30] And the child grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him
[00:14:38] And this is Jesus and when he was 12 years old they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast
[00:14:46] And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man
[00:14:53] We read in a book of 1 Samuel chapter 2 verses 21 and 26
[00:14:58] And the Lord visited Hannah so that she conceived and their three sons and two daughters
[00:15:05] And the child Samuel grew before the Lord and the child Samuel grew on and was in favor both with the Lord and also with men
[00:15:15] Now listeners, this may come as a shock to some
[00:15:21] But did you know that the Bible is mainly silent about the lives of children?
[00:15:27] There are only a few incidents in scriptural record that relate to the life of the child Jesus
[00:15:34] There are only a few incidents in the Bible that relate to the lives of children in Israel in general
[00:15:41] The life of Samuel as a child being one example
[00:15:45] The reason for this listeners must now be explained
[00:15:49] I will read from an article called Use Instructor
[00:15:54] There is an important lesson for parents and children to learn in the silence of the Scriptures
[00:15:59] In reference to the childhood and youth of Christ
[00:16:03] He was our example in all things
[00:16:07] In the little notice given of his childhood and youthful life as an example for parents as well as children
[00:16:15] That no more quiet and unnoticed the period of childhood and youth is past
[00:16:20] And the more natural and free from artificial excitement
[00:16:24] The more safe will it be for the children and the more favorable for the formation of a character of purity, natural simplicity and true moral worth
[00:16:34] That's Use Instructor February 1st 1873 paragraph 8
[00:16:39] So here we see why the Bible has so few words to say about the lives of children
[00:16:47] It is God's purpose that childhood and youth be a quiet and unnoticed period in a person's life
[00:16:55] So that children and youth can live a more natural life
[00:16:59] Free from artificial excitement and more favorably form a character of purity, natural simplicity and true moral worth
[00:17:09] Children in this age are being brought up much the opposite
[00:17:13] They are showing off and wanting to be the center of attention
[00:17:17] Are being treated as idols and are being allowed to get involved in adults conversations
[00:17:23] When children should be taught to be quiet and only speak when they are spoken to
[00:17:29] They should be taught to know their place when visitors are in the home
[00:17:33] And when they are out to the family visiting neighbors
[00:17:37] They should especially be taught to be silent and respectful when they are in the place of worship
[00:17:43] And so, to all the children listening
[00:17:46] God wants you to learn your place as a child and to live a simple and happy life
[00:17:52] Wait until you are an adult before you get involved in adult people's business
[00:17:57] Until then, learn to be good and honest and to be helpful to your parents
[00:18:03] We'll have a break from music this time
[00:18:10] Hear my cry, oh God, attend unto my prayer
[00:18:24] From the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee
[00:18:32] When my heart is overwhelmed
[00:18:37] Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
[00:18:44] For thou hast been a shelter for me
[00:19:00] And a strong tower from the enemy
[00:19:08] When my heart is overwhelmed
[00:19:13] Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
[00:19:28] Hear my cry, oh God, attend unto my prayer
[00:19:36] From the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee
[00:19:44] When my heart is overwhelmed
[00:19:48] Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
[00:20:00] When my heart is overwhelmed
[00:20:04] Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
[00:20:12] That is higher than I
[00:20:56] May I sing to you, oh God, attend unto my prayer
[00:21:06] For thou hast been a shelter for me
[00:21:16] When my heart is overwhelmed
[00:21:21] Lead me to the rock that is higher than I
[00:21:31] Hear my cry, oh God, attend unto my prayer
[00:22:01] What parents ask should be carried out lovingly and quickly
[00:22:06] And faithfully, with a willing heart
[00:22:09] Because parents have brought children into the world
[00:22:12] And have cared for the child
[00:22:14] And are called to be the caretakers of children in God's stead
[00:22:19] Now listeners, some will ask
[00:22:22] What about if children's parents are ungodly?
[00:22:26] What if children have been abandoned by their parents altogether?
[00:22:30] The Lord understands that there are many children who are orphans
[00:22:34] Whose parents either abandon them or never took care of them
[00:22:38] Who may even be suffering from physical and sexual abuse in a home
[00:22:43] This is why the Bible states to obey your parents in the Lord
[00:22:48] Not those who are not in the Lord
[00:22:50] If they are asking you to do things that God does not approve
[00:22:56] We read in the Book of Exodus, chapter 22 verses 22 to 24
[00:23:01] Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child
[00:23:06] If thou afflict them in any wise and they cry at all unto me
[00:23:10] I will surely hear their cry
[00:23:13] And my wrath shall wax hot
[00:23:15] And I will kill you with the sword
[00:23:18] And your wife shall be widows and your children fatherless
[00:23:23] We read in the Book of Psalms, chapter 27 and verse 10
[00:23:27] When my father and my mother forsake me
[00:23:31] Then the Lord will take me up
[00:23:33] We read in the Book of Peter, chapter 3 and verses 12 to 16
[00:23:39] For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous
[00:23:42] And his ears are open unto their prayers
[00:23:45] But the face of the Lord is against them that do evil
[00:23:49] And who is he that will harm you
[00:23:51] If you be followers of that which is good?
[00:23:54] But and if you suffer for righteousness sake
[00:23:57] Happy are ye, and be not afraid of their terror
[00:24:00] Neither be troubled, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts
[00:24:05] And be ready always to give an answer to every man that asks you
[00:24:09] A reason of the hope that is in you
[00:24:11] With meekness and fear
[00:24:13] Having a good conscience
[00:24:15] That whereas they speak evil of you
[00:24:17] As of evil doers
[00:24:19] They may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ
[00:24:25] We also read in the Book of Psalms, chapter 10 and verses 13 to 14
[00:24:30] Wherefore doth the wicked condemn God
[00:24:33] He hath said in his heart
[00:24:35] Thou wilt not require it
[00:24:37] Thou hast seen it
[00:24:39] For thou beholdest mischief and spite
[00:24:42] To requite it with thy hand
[00:24:44] The poor committed himself unto thee
[00:24:47] Thou art the helper of the fatherless
[00:24:50] Here the Bible lets both adults and children know
[00:24:54] That God will make them accountable for whatever wickedness they may do
[00:24:58] Especially to the fatherless and defenceless children
[00:25:02] Being fatherless, I should say, does not only mean not having a physical human father
[00:25:07] It also means having parents who do not act as fathers and mothers
[00:25:12] As protectors in their role
[00:25:15] God gives children a rule to follow
[00:25:18] If they are suffering abuse from wicked parents or guardians
[00:25:22] If you suffer for righteousness' sake
[00:25:24] For doing the will of God
[00:25:26] And if you are doing all that you can to resist the evil that is happening to you
[00:25:31] Then happy are you
[00:25:33] And you have a good conscience
[00:25:36] If any child is suffering
[00:25:38] And is listening tonight
[00:25:40] Or to the recording of the radio broadcast
[00:25:43] Know that God sees and knows every act of evil that is done against you
[00:25:49] It will not go unpunished
[00:25:51] Hard as it is
[00:25:54] Be not afraid of the terror that you are confronted with
[00:25:58] Trust in your Savior Jesus Christ
[00:26:00] And cry out to him
[00:26:02] As the Bible instructs and he will deliver you
[00:26:06] He has eternal power
[00:26:08] And all the halls of darkness cannot resist him
[00:26:11] Who upholds all things by the word of his power
[00:26:16] Do all that you can to find a responsible adult
[00:26:19] You can trust and let him or her know what is happening to you
[00:26:25] The Lord will take matters from there
[00:26:28] He will not leave you to be destroyed by the devil
[00:26:31] If you simply put your trust in him
[00:26:34] And if it is impossible to find someone to talk to
[00:26:37] You can talk to Jesus directly at any time by praying to him children
[00:26:43] Cry out to your Father in heaven
[00:26:45] Have faith in his eternal power to save you
[00:26:48] And leave the matter in his hands
[00:26:50] He will not leave you child nor forsake you
[00:26:54] Listeners I have dwelt upon child abuse a little longer this evening
[00:27:00] As this is one of the main evils of spiritual Babylon
[00:27:04] It is carried out under the guise of Christianity
[00:27:07] In many professed Christian churches
[00:27:11] Roman Catholicism being the leading one
[00:27:14] Many children have been abused by pedophile priests
[00:27:19] Corrupt pastors, laymen and elders
[00:27:23] This causes many to give up the faith
[00:27:25] Become atheists
[00:27:27] Go into prostitution
[00:27:29] Turn to alcohol
[00:27:31] And to do other evil things
[00:27:34] We who are called to give the free angels messages
[00:27:36] As to expose the powers of darkness
[00:27:39] And to expose the spiritual wickedness in high places
[00:27:43] The wickedness of unfaithful leaders in religious bodies
[00:27:47] So that God's true children can be delivered from them
[00:27:51] Now when does a child become an adult?
[00:27:57] We read in the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 13 and verse 11
[00:28:02] When I was a child
[00:28:04] I spake as a child
[00:28:06] I understood as a child
[00:28:07] I thought as a child
[00:28:09] But when I became a man
[00:28:11] I put away childish things
[00:28:14] The Bible teaches that a child becomes an adult
[00:28:18] When they no longer think and speak
[00:28:21] And act like a child
[00:28:23] They become an adult when they put away childish things
[00:28:27] We read in the book of Ephesians chapter 4 verses 11 to 15
[00:28:32] And he gave some apostles
[00:28:34] And some prophets
[00:28:35] And some evangelists
[00:28:37] And some pastors and teachers
[00:28:40] For the perfecting of the saints
[00:28:42] For the work of the ministry
[00:28:44] For the edifying of the body of Christ
[00:28:47] To be all come in the unity of the faith
[00:28:49] And of the knowledge of the Son of God
[00:28:51] Until a perfect man
[00:28:53] Until the measure of the stature
[00:28:55] Of the fullness of Christ
[00:28:57] That we henceforth be no more children
[00:29:00] Tossed to and fro
[00:29:02] And carried about with every word
[00:29:03] Of doctrine
[00:29:05] By the slight of men
[00:29:07] And cunning craftiness
[00:29:09] Whereby they lie and wait to deceive
[00:29:11] But speaking the truth in love
[00:29:13] May grow up into him in all things
[00:29:15] Which is the head, even Christ
[00:29:18] The Bible teaches us that real adulthood
[00:29:20] Is reached when the child is not
[00:29:22] Tossed about with every word
[00:29:24] Of doctrine
[00:29:26] But speaks the truth in love
[00:29:28] And grows up into Christ in all things
[00:29:30] And in the light of the day
[00:29:31] And grows up into Christ in all things
[00:29:34] It is when the child matures
[00:29:36] In the knowledge and love of God
[00:29:38] Thus adulthood
[00:29:40] Is not just about age and physical maturity
[00:29:42] But adulthood
[00:29:44] Is really about maturing spiritually
[00:29:46] In Jesus Christ
[00:29:49] We read in the book of Luke chapter 2 and verse 40
[00:29:52] And the child grew
[00:29:54] And whacked strong in spirit
[00:29:56] Field of wisdom
[00:29:58] And the grace of God was upon him
[00:29:59] We read in the book of Luke chapter 1 and verse 80
[00:30:03] And the child grew
[00:30:05] And whacked strong in spirit
[00:30:07] And was in the deserts to the day
[00:30:09] Of his showing unto Israel
[00:30:11] Here we read about the growth of Jesus Christ
[00:30:14] And John the Baptist from their childhood
[00:30:16] To their adulthood
[00:30:19] Note listeners
[00:30:21] The growth of Jesus Christ in particular
[00:30:23] Involved being strong in spirit
[00:30:25] Being filled with wisdom
[00:30:27] And having the grace of God upon him
[00:30:28] Both men never married nor had children
[00:30:30] So being married and or having children
[00:30:32] Does not constitute a person
[00:30:34] Being an adult man or woman
[00:30:36] When the child thinks and speaks
[00:30:38] And acts in accordance to God's will
[00:30:40] When their minds and bodies
[00:30:42] Have been matured by him
[00:30:44] Through obedience to his word
[00:30:46] At each stage of their growth
[00:30:48] By his spirit
[00:30:50] Then they are truly an adult
[00:30:52] And they are truly an adult
[00:30:54] And they are truly an adult
[00:30:56] And they are truly an adult
[00:30:58] Now why is the fifth commandment
[00:31:02] Important for a child?
[00:31:04] We read in the book of Exodus chapter 20 and verse 12
[00:31:09] Honor thy father and thy mother
[00:31:11] That thy days may be long upon the land
[00:31:14] Which the Lord thy God give if thee
[00:31:17] I would read from a book called
[00:31:19] Patriots and Prophets
[00:31:21] A book which was written by a woman
[00:31:23] Who was inspired by the Holy Ghost
[00:31:25] Which explains about the fifth commandment
[00:31:27] Parents are entitled to a degree
[00:31:30] Of love and respect
[00:31:32] Which is due to no other person
[00:31:35] God himself was placed upon them
[00:31:37] A responsibility for the souls
[00:31:39] Committed to their charge
[00:31:41] Has ordained that during the
[00:31:43] Earlier years of life
[00:31:45] Parents shall stand in the place
[00:31:47] Of God to their children
[00:31:49] And he who rejects this rightful
[00:31:51] Authority of his parents
[00:31:53] Is rejecting the authority of God
[00:31:56] The fifth commandment requires
[00:31:58] Children not only to yield respect
[00:32:00] Submission and obedience to their parents
[00:32:03] But also to give them love and tenderness
[00:32:06] To lighten their cares
[00:32:08] To guard their reputation
[00:32:10] And to succour and comfort them in old age
[00:32:13] It also enjoins respect for ministers
[00:32:16] And rulers and for all others
[00:32:18] To whom God has dedicated authority
[00:32:21] This says the apostle is the first
[00:32:23] Commandment with promise
[00:32:25] The phesians chapter 6 verse 2
[00:32:27] The Israel expecting soon
[00:32:30] The Canaan
[00:32:32] It was a pledge to the obedient
[00:32:34] Of long life in that good land
[00:32:36] But it has a wider meaning
[00:32:38] Including all the Israel of God
[00:32:40] And promise an eternal life upon the earth
[00:32:43] And it shall be freed from the curse of sin
[00:32:46] That's pages and prophets
[00:32:48] Page 308, M.G. White
[00:32:51] And so
[00:32:53] We see that obedience to the fifth commandment
[00:32:55] For children to love and respect their parents
[00:32:57] Is a pledge that God will give children
[00:33:00] Not only long life on this earth
[00:33:02] But also eternal life
[00:33:04] In the earth made new
[00:33:06] Free from the curse of sin
[00:33:09] So listening children
[00:33:11] Young and old
[00:33:13] Before you complain to God
[00:33:15] About problems in your life
[00:33:17] Or about sickness
[00:33:19] Or about any hindrances
[00:33:21] You are continually meeting
[00:33:23] How is it with you and your parents
[00:33:27] Have you treated them with love
[00:33:29] And respect
[00:33:30] The love and respect that is due to them
[00:33:32] Have you respected their wishes
[00:33:36] As God would have you too
[00:33:39] Or have you followed your own way
[00:33:41] And caused them hurt
[00:33:43] And brought shame upon your family
[00:33:45] By what you have done
[00:33:47] Or by what you have said
[00:33:49] You may prosper for a while
[00:33:52] But if you do not repent
[00:33:54] And seek to lighten their cares
[00:33:56] And to guard their reputation
[00:33:59] And to help them
[00:34:01] And comfort them
[00:34:03] At an old age
[00:34:05] Then you will not only lose this life
[00:34:07] But the life to come as well
[00:34:10] You read the book Revelation chapter 22
[00:34:13] Verse 14
[00:34:15] Blessed are they that do his commandments
[00:34:18] That they may have a right to the tree of life
[00:34:20] And may enter in through the gates into the city
[00:34:24] This is to be not only the prayer
[00:34:27] But the life practice
[00:34:29] Of all children young and old
[00:34:31] If they want to enter the city of God
[00:34:34] And to meet their Creator in peace
[00:34:36] Face to face
[00:34:40] Let us now listen to an excerpt
[00:34:42] From the late pastor Walter Pearson
[00:34:44] From a sermon called Bad Boys
[00:34:47] There's something about me
[00:34:49] That does not understand this new parenting method
[00:34:54] I am not amused with the time out kids
[00:34:58] I go to grocery stores
[00:35:04] And they are pulling down cans
[00:35:07] I sit on airplanes
[00:35:09] In fact my wife and I made a trip
[00:35:10] Across the Atlantic
[00:35:12] And there was a child
[00:35:14] Whose parents forgot he was there
[00:35:17] And he leaned over a seat
[00:35:19] And looked at me
[00:35:21] And got engaged with whatever I looked like to him
[00:35:24] And thought he would
[00:35:26] To me all the way across the Atlantic
[00:35:30] I did the right thing
[00:35:32] I touched his father
[00:35:34] I said sir
[00:35:36] And he said what
[00:35:38] I said could you just
[00:35:40] See he acted like he didn't understand
[00:35:42] And for the next hundred thousand miles
[00:35:45] It felt like that child was there
[00:35:47] And what do you do
[00:35:49] My belt understood
[00:35:51] It almost came out of the loops
[00:35:55] And while you are not parents yet
[00:35:58] Most of you let me beg of you
[00:36:01] If you become a parent
[00:36:03] Please don't get all caught up
[00:36:05] In what your child does
[00:36:07] That's disobedient
[00:36:09] You tell your child to do something
[00:36:10] I've been in some houses where children say some stuff
[00:36:13] That makes me wonder who's in charge here
[00:36:17] And the parents think it's cute
[00:36:19] They say did you hear what he said
[00:36:21] Yes I did
[00:36:23] He told you to shut up
[00:36:26] And he's still standing there
[00:36:31] In days of yore
[00:36:34] My mother was a wonderful lady
[00:36:36] Kind, courteous
[00:36:39] Just godly
[00:36:40] But there were things that my brother and I could say
[00:36:43] That would land us on the floor
[00:36:46] Think of something
[00:36:48] That will let your children know who's in charge
[00:36:50] Because if you don't
[00:36:52] If what you want is to be the friend
[00:36:54] Of your child
[00:36:56] You know just all be together
[00:36:58] And we're all just friends
[00:37:02] If your children ever get the impression
[00:37:04] That you are all just friends
[00:37:07] Your life will be okay for a few years
[00:37:10] But one day you will spend a lot of time at prisons
[00:37:15] And you'll spend a lot of money with lawyers
[00:37:18] It's a wonderful thing
[00:37:20] When you have trained children
[00:37:22] Even though you've been imperfect
[00:37:24] Let them know that you are in charge
[00:37:26] Eli with all of his godliness
[00:37:30] Let his children find out
[00:37:32] That they were in control
[00:37:35] I don't care how pretty your kids are
[00:37:38] Take it from me
[00:37:40] I'm not testing you
[00:37:42] Tiny little children
[00:37:44] Little babies with pacifiers in their mouths
[00:37:47] Are checking to see if they can run the house
[00:37:50] And the moment they discover that you can't hang
[00:37:56] You've had it
[00:37:58] They'll take charge
[00:38:00] I'm in the grocery store with children
[00:38:02] Who select what they're gonna buy
[00:38:04] They got a full grocery cart
[00:38:06] And the parent hasn't even made a choice yet
[00:38:09] Something has gone wrong with this process
[00:38:11] I do not believe in child abuse
[00:38:14] I really don't
[00:38:16] In fact, let me read you the parallel of what some of these texts say
[00:38:20] That we used to use
[00:38:22] Proverbs 13-24 says
[00:38:24] When you look at it in a parallel version
[00:38:27] If you don't discipline your son
[00:38:29] It shows you don't love him
[00:38:31] If you love your child
[00:38:33] You will patiently discipline him
[00:38:35] Then Ephesians 6-4 says
[00:38:37] Love your children as part of God's family
[00:38:39] Don't mistreat them
[00:38:41] And yet
[00:38:43] You gotta do something
[00:38:45] You cannot make the mistake of Eli
[00:38:47] The boys checked him out
[00:38:50] And they found out that
[00:38:52] Dad is weak
[00:38:55] You know
[00:38:57] So dad will say
[00:38:59] Are you gonna go and do what I told you
[00:39:01] Uh-uh
[00:39:03] Not gonna do it
[00:39:05] But you know
[00:39:07] Let me tell you something
[00:39:09] If you have not trained your children at home
[00:39:14] You can't fake it in public
[00:39:16] If you haven't made them obey in private
[00:39:19] Just leave them alone in public
[00:39:21] Let them go
[00:39:23] You'll be less embarrassed that way
[00:39:25] Cause if you come out and try to get all big and bad
[00:39:27] For once
[00:39:29] Didn't I tell you what to do
[00:39:31] And they say yes you told me
[00:39:33] But I'm not gonna do it
[00:39:35] Then what are you gonna do
[00:39:37] And let me tell you something
[00:39:39] I want you to know about my God
[00:39:41] God is about justice
[00:39:45] But He is also about mercy
[00:39:48] His mercy is just as fleet afoot
[00:39:52] As is His justice
[00:39:54] His justice will not roll up into your territory
[00:39:58] Without mercy coming beside it
[00:40:01] God is more merciful than you can imagine
[00:40:05] Everybody listening to me now
[00:40:08] Can think of a time when you did something unthinkable
[00:40:10] I'm not talking about the thing that you talk about
[00:40:13] When you go to prayer meet
[00:40:15] I would like to give my testimony pastor
[00:40:18] I don't even want to hear that one again
[00:40:22] Cause you only tell the one way you look good
[00:40:25] You don't tell the one that's real
[00:40:27] You got a couple stories you won't even tell your mother
[00:40:30] You got a couple stories you certainly are not gonna tell your husband
[00:40:34] Or your wife
[00:40:36] Cause you don't look good in the story
[00:40:38] You come out looking really bad
[00:40:39] But God did not take your life as he should have
[00:40:44] Instead he spared your life
[00:40:46] To give you the opportunity to come back to him
[00:40:49] And what I want to say to you
[00:40:51] In this moment where I hope you are thoughtful
[00:40:53] Is this
[00:40:55] That God chases bad boys
[00:41:01] If God only went after good kids
[00:41:04] Who would he chase
[00:41:07] If God only went after pestered people
[00:41:10] Who would he find
[00:41:12] If God only went after people who deserve to be saved
[00:41:17] Who would it be
[00:41:19] God has left
[00:41:21] To do what he has promised he would do
[00:41:24] He has come through Christ
[00:41:26] To seek
[00:41:28] And to save the lost
[00:41:30] And if your mind is open enough
[00:41:33] Let me tell you that you have not passed the point
[00:41:37] Where he can reach you
[00:41:39] In fact if you would let this be your reality moment
[00:41:44] God is willing to come where you are
[00:41:47] He knows what you've done
[00:41:50] Not only knows what you've done
[00:41:52] But what you would have done if you had the opportunity
[00:41:56] But he loves you enough
[00:41:58] To give you mercy enough
[00:42:00] To make a change in your life
[00:42:02] Listeners
[00:42:06] We'll have a break some music
[00:42:08] And we'll come up some closing fonts
[00:42:10] Music
[00:42:23] Behold the tabernacle of God
[00:42:27] He's with men
[00:42:29] And he will dwell with them
[00:42:32] And they shall be his people
[00:42:35] And God himself shall be with them
[00:42:39] And be their God
[00:42:48] And God shall wipe away all tears
[00:42:52] From their eyes
[00:42:54] And there shall be no more death
[00:42:58] Neither sorrow nor crying
[00:43:01] And neither shall there be any more
[00:43:05] Pain
[00:43:07] For the former thieves
[00:43:10] Are passed away
[00:43:12] Are passed away
[00:43:14] Are passed away
[00:43:16] Are passed away
[00:43:17] Behold the tabernacle of God
[00:43:25] He's with men
[00:43:27] And he will dwell with them
[00:43:31] And they shall be his people
[00:43:34] And God himself shall be with them
[00:43:38] And be their God
[00:43:41] And God shall wipe away all tears
[00:43:45] From their eyes
[00:43:47] And there shall be no more death
[00:43:51] Neither sorrow nor crying
[00:43:54] And neither shall there be any more
[00:43:58] Pain
[00:44:00] For the former thieves
[00:44:03] Are passed away
[00:44:05] Are passed away
[00:44:07] For the former thieves
[00:44:10] Are passed away
[00:44:12] Are passed away
[00:44:13] Are passed away
[00:44:16] Are passed away
[00:44:18] Are passed away
[00:44:20] Are passed away
[00:44:22] Are passed away
[00:44:35] Voice in bearing hold
[00:44:46] For our closing thoughts this evening
[00:44:49] Here is what the Spirit of God declares
[00:44:52] What the child should aspire to
[00:44:56] I'm going to read from the signs at the time
[00:44:58] of 1879 paragraph 4
[00:45:04] We desire that the youth shall be able to say
[00:45:08] We have become familiar with the Scriptures
[00:45:11] And we see that it is of the highest importance
[00:45:15] That we be obedient to the truth of God
[00:45:19] Found in his word
[00:45:22] We want the little children to understand the Bible
[00:45:25] And to grow up in the knowledge of the truth
[00:45:28] And we as parents do not wish to be found among those
[00:45:32] Who do not see the necessity of their children
[00:45:35] To understand the Scriptures for themselves
[00:45:38] And who are therefore negligent
[00:45:41] And cause their children to be negligent
[00:45:44] Or to be in earnest in these matters
[00:45:47] And search the Scriptures
[00:45:49] And see that our children search them
[00:45:53] Christ said search the Scriptures
[00:45:55] For in them you think you have eternal life
[00:45:58] And they are they which testify of me
[00:46:02] We should become firm in the truth
[00:46:05] And the Word of God
[00:46:07] Which testifies of him in whom all our hopes
[00:46:10] Of everlasting life are centered
[00:46:13] If you would know how to imitate the spotless life
[00:46:16] And character of Christ
[00:46:18] Obtain the knowledge of him
[00:46:20] As presented in the Word of God
[00:46:23] And so there children
[00:46:24] God has given you life
[00:46:26] Not to spend hours day in and day out
[00:46:29] On Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat
[00:46:34] Or YouTube
[00:46:36] Following the latest social media craze
[00:46:40] God has not made you for your life
[00:46:42] To be wasted at the dance
[00:46:44] On your mobile phones
[00:46:46] Taking selfies
[00:46:48] Chatting up boys or girls
[00:46:50] Sexed in
[00:46:51] Or for you to do any other evil thing
[00:46:55] He has given you life rather
[00:46:57] To learn a better way
[00:47:00] Do not let the devil destroy you
[00:47:04] Take the time daily to study and practice God's Word
[00:47:08] Zen and only Zen
[00:47:11] Can you understand your true purpose in life
[00:47:14] Find true love
[00:47:16] And grow up in Jesus Christ the Lord
[00:47:18] To become loving and lovable adults
[00:47:22] May the Lord richly bless you children
[00:47:25] With the power of His love
[00:47:27] So listeners let us now
[00:47:31] Pray to close the study this evening
[00:47:33] Heavenly Father
[00:47:37] Lord I thank you for your word
[00:47:39] For your words of inspiration
[00:47:42] And I pray for all the children who are listening tonight
[00:47:46] Especially
[00:47:48] Who may even be listening together with their parents
[00:47:50] Or listening adults
[00:47:53] Lord I pray Lord that
[00:47:56] They would give their hearts to you
[00:47:58] And realize the high and holy purpose
[00:48:01] Which they're called unto
[00:48:03] And how you're calling them
[00:48:05] To be witness for you
[00:48:07] In this wicked and untoward generation
[00:48:11] I pray Lord that they would seek to educate themselves
[00:48:15] In your word to serve
[00:48:17] And to serve honestly and faithfully
[00:48:20] Their parents and you
[00:48:23] As they continually grow and get older
[00:48:26] I ask for your special blessing to be upon them
[00:48:29] Lord
[00:48:31] And that they will dare to be as Daniels
[00:48:33] And stand up against the evil
[00:48:35] That they're facing day to day
[00:48:39] I pray for the parents who are listening Lord
[00:48:41] That they will do all in their power
[00:48:43] To train their children lovingly
[00:48:45] And respectfully in the right way
[00:48:48] Lord and that together
[00:48:49] As a family
[00:48:51] They would stand as witnesses for you
[00:48:53] These things I pray and ask company
[00:48:56] In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
[00:48:59] Amen
