Radio show presented by Brother John Noel on 26th May 2024.
[00:00:01] Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Enlightened in the World Every Week
[00:00:09] It's not just knowing about the doctrine in the Bible, that is not what we stand for here
[00:00:15] Streaming powerful biblical based messages lying down in the desert
[00:00:20] This congregation may never be gathered together again as we see it
[00:00:24] Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Enlightened in the World Every Week
[00:00:30] Good evening, welcome to Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio
[00:00:53] We are streaming live from the internet from London
[00:00:57] This show is dedicated to God through our Lord Jesus Christ
[00:01:03] On tonight's program we will be discussing the first of a five part series about victory over sin
[00:01:11] We will be studying what the Bible teaches about justification
[00:01:16] More about our subject after you've heard some music
[00:03:30] What is justification?
[00:05:56] We will discuss this subject tonight with answers from the Bible
[00:06:01] Have a pen and paper ready to write down some notes
[00:06:07] Tonight we will be discussing these questions together
[00:06:11] What does it mean to be justified?
[00:06:14] Why do we need to be justified?
[00:06:17] How are we justified?
[00:06:20] When are we justified?
[00:06:23] And what examples does the Bible give about justification?
[00:06:29] Before we have us study this evening, let us have a word of prayer together
[00:06:35] Heavenly Father, thank you for Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio streaming live from the internet from London
[00:06:45] I pray now Lord as we study your word that your Holy Spirit will be with us
[00:06:51] and to teach us about justification is our prayer
[00:06:56] In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen
[00:07:02] Now what does it mean to be justified?
[00:07:05] We read in the book of Job chapter 25 and verse 4
[00:07:10] How then can man be justified with God?
[00:07:14] Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
[00:07:18] We read in the book of Psalms chapter 51 and verse 4
[00:07:23] Against thee, is thee only have I sinned and done this even in thy sight
[00:07:29] That thou mightest be justified when thou speakest and be clear when thou judgest
[00:07:36] The Bible uses the word justified in a legal sense
[00:07:40] It relates to God's judgment
[00:07:43] To be justified with God is to be clean from sin and to be clear from doing evil
[00:07:52] We read in the book of Hebrews chapter 12 and verse 23
[00:07:56] To the general assembly and church of the firstborn which are written in heaven
[00:08:02] And to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect
[00:08:10] Here we see that the book of Hebrews reinforces this point
[00:08:14] God is the judge of all and we see that just men are men who are made perfect
[00:08:22] We read in the book of Revelation chapter 15 and verse 3
[00:08:27] And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb
[00:08:32] Saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty
[00:08:37] Just and true are thy ways, thy King of Saints
[00:08:42] God's ways are just and true
[00:08:45] And so a person's ways, we've justified by God, also have to be just and true
[00:08:51] Or clean from doing evil in order for God to pronounce the sentence that a person is justified
[00:08:58] We also read in the book of Luke chapter 18 and verses 13 to 14
[00:09:04] And the publican standing afar off would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven
[00:09:11] But smelt upon his breast saying, God be merciful to me a sinner
[00:09:16] I tell you Jesus says this man went down to his house justified rather than the other
[00:09:23] For everyone that exalt him himself shall be abased
[00:09:27] And he that humblif himself shall be exalted
[00:09:30] Jesus teaches us that to be justified before God is to recognize that you are a sinner and are in need of God's mercy
[00:09:41] So here we see another aspect of justification
[00:09:45] Those who realize their need of salvation through Jesus Christ the Lord, God justifies
[00:09:52] Now why do we need to be justified?
[00:09:57] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 3 and verse 4
[00:10:02] Whosoever committed sin transgressive also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law
[00:10:09] We read in the book of Romans chapter 3 and verse 23
[00:10:13] For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
[00:10:18] The Bible makes it clear that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
[00:10:24] We have all transgressed God's law and thus have not represented God rightly with the lives that he has given to us
[00:10:33] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 4 and verse 8
[00:10:39] He that love if not, know if not God, for God is love
[00:10:45] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 3 and verses 11 to 14
[00:10:50] For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning
[00:10:54] That we should love one another
[00:10:56] Not as Cain who is of that wicked one and slew his brother
[00:11:01] And wherefore slew he him?
[00:11:04] Because his own works were evil and his brother's righteous
[00:11:09] Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hates you
[00:11:13] We know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren
[00:11:19] He that love if not his brother abide if in death
[00:11:24] We have all sinned and come short of the glory or character of God which is love
[00:11:31] By disobeying God we have become hateful and unloving one towards another
[00:11:37] We have separated from the God of love who created mankind and who gives us life
[00:11:43] Therefore in order for God to be fair to all the other beings in the universe who have not sinned
[00:11:50] And rebelled against God, God has to have a valid reason to continue to give us life
[00:11:56] We read in the book of Romans chapter 6 and verse 23 and Romans chapter 3 verse 24
[00:12:05] For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
[00:12:13] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
[00:12:20] All have sinned and transgressed God's law of ten commandments
[00:12:26] We are thus registered as criminals in the sight of heaven and are under a death sentence
[00:12:32] Unless our sins can be pardoned by the government of God
[00:12:36] The good news is that justification, pardon for sin and eternal life is a gift that is offered to each and every one of us freely
[00:12:46] By God's grace through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ
[00:12:52] This is the good news of the Gospel and has been the blessed hope of all true Christian believers from Adam down to men today
[00:13:01] So how are we justified?
[00:13:06] We read in the book of Galatians chapter 2 and verse 16
[00:13:10] Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by the faith of Jesus Christ
[00:13:16] Even we have believed in Jesus Christ that we might be justified by the faith of Christ and not by the works of the law
[00:13:24] For by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
[00:13:29] We read in the book of Romans chapter 5 and verse 1
[00:13:33] Therefore being justified by faith we have peace through God through our Lord Jesus Christ
[00:13:40] The Bible teaches us plainly that we are not justified by the works of the law
[00:13:45] Which means that we are not justified by any effort that we can do of ourselves
[00:13:51] We are justified, pardoned for our sins only by having faith in Jesus Christ
[00:13:58] We read in the book of Romans chapter 3 and verse 23 to 26
[00:14:04] For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
[00:14:08] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus
[00:14:14] Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood
[00:14:20] To declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are passed through the ferberance of God
[00:14:27] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness that he might be just and the justify of him which believe within Jesus
[00:14:39] God justifies us freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ
[00:14:45] We are clear before God from our criminal charges of sin and from doing evil when we have faith in redemption that is in Jesus Christ
[00:14:55] Redemption from sin is not just to believe in Jesus Christ and then to remain sinning
[00:15:02] This is why the seers of radio broadcasts is called victory over sin
[00:15:07] Our redemption involves not only pardon from sin, justification but also complete cleansing from sin, sanctification
[00:15:17] We will look at how sanctification is vital to redemption in our next radio broadcast
[00:15:24] We read in the book of Romans chapter 5 and verse 9
[00:15:28] Much more than being now justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him
[00:15:35] The Bible makes it clear what allows sinners to be justified before God
[00:15:41] Sinners are justified by the blood of Christ
[00:15:45] Listeners, if we believe in Jesus Christ and have faith in his blood then we shall be saved from God's wrath through him
[00:15:53] We shall look at how we are justified by the blood of Christ after the break
[00:20:34] As we continue to look at Romans chapter 3 and verse 24
[00:20:39] We see that God has set Jesus Christ to be a propitiation through faith in his blood
[00:20:46] The word propitiation used by the translators of the King James Version of the Bible is from the Greek word Illysterion
[00:20:56] It means an atoning victim, the lid of the Ark of the Testament
[00:21:02] We read in the book of Leviticus chapter 17 and verse 11
[00:21:07] For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls
[00:21:16] For it is the blood that make up an atonement for the soul
[00:21:22] We read in the book of Hebrews chapter 9 and verses 13 to 14
[00:21:27] For if the blood of bulls and of goats and the ashes of a hypher sprinkling the unclean sanctify after the purifying of the flesh
[00:21:36] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
[00:21:49] Before Jesus came upon this earth, the sacrificial service was provisionally set up in Israel to teach the nation the plan of redemption
[00:21:59] God had specifically explained to Moses that the life of the flesh was in the blood
[00:22:04] It was the blood that made an atonement, for it was the life in the blood that made an atonement for the soul
[00:22:11] Thus the people of Israel were taught that when the Redeemer would come, Jesus Christ, it would be his life, shed through his blood, that would make an atonement for the soul
[00:22:23] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 5 and verses 11 to 13
[00:22:30] And this is the record that God have given to us eternal life, and this life is in his son
[00:22:38] He that have the life, he that have the son, so he have life, and he that have not the son of God have not life
[00:22:45] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God
[00:22:50] That you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God
[00:22:58] We read in the book of 1 John chapter 2 and verses 1 to 2
[00:23:03] My little children, these things write I unto you that ye sin not
[00:23:09] And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous
[00:23:15] And he is the propitiation for our sins, and not for us only, but also for the sins of the whole world
[00:23:25] We read in the book of 1 Timothy chapter 3 and verse 16
[00:23:30] And if our controversy, great is the mystery of Godliness
[00:23:34] God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory
[00:23:47] The law of God is eternal, and only one equal of the law could die for the law and meet its eternal requirements
[00:23:57] Jesus Christ the Son of God is the giver of eternal life
[00:24:02] He was the eternal God that came in the flesh
[00:24:06] This is why God could accept the blood of Jesus Christ provisionally for the sins of the whole world
[00:24:13] The merits of Christ's blood, blood given from the life of one who is infinitely powerful and pure
[00:24:20] meets the demands of the broken law of God by the sins of the whole world
[00:24:26] We can now only begin to comprehend God's infinite wisdom that devised the plan of salvation
[00:24:34] Now when are we justified?
[00:24:39] We read in the book of Acts chapter 13 and verses 38-39
[00:24:44] Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this pen is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins
[00:24:53] And by him, this is Jesus, all that believe are justified from all things
[00:24:59] from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses
[00:25:03] We read in the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 6 and verses 9-11
[00:25:09] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?
[00:25:14] Be not deceived, neither fornicators nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind
[00:25:25] nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners shall inherit the kingdom of God
[00:25:35] And such were some of you, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God
[00:25:47] We read in the book of Galatians chapter 2 and verse 16
[00:25:53] Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ
[00:25:59] Even we have believed in Jesus Christ that we might be justified by the faith of Christ and not by the works of the law
[00:26:08] for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
[00:26:12] When a person hears the gospel listeners and understands that they have forgiveness of their sins through the substitutionary nature of the Atonement
[00:26:22] that is that Christ provisionally paid the penalty for their sins
[00:26:27] if they accept the conditions of the salvation that God offers
[00:26:32] and believe in Christ as their substitute and saviour, then a person is justified before God
[00:26:39] This is because the gospel teaches that we are not only saved from the penalty of our sins, justification
[00:26:46] It also teaches that God promises through Jesus Christ to cleanse us from all of our sins, sanctification
[00:26:55] We will look at sanctification in the next part of this series
[00:27:00] Listeners, God freely pardons us of all our sins through the sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ
[00:27:07] and he also gives us a chance to prove that we are willing to live in harmony with him
[00:27:13] As long as we continue to accept that Jesus Christ not only died for our sins in the sight of God
[00:27:19] and that he was also resurrected to give us a life free from sin, then we can remain just before God
[00:27:26] because God accepts the spotless life of Christ instead of our own sinful one under disagreement
[00:27:34] Disagreement is called the New Covenant
[00:27:39] We read in the book of Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse 33
[00:27:43] But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
[00:27:48] After those days save the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts
[00:27:55] and will be their God and they shall be my people
[00:27:59] And so justification by faith is not only just to believe that Jesus has died for our sins
[00:28:06] and that by believing alone our record in heaven is clean
[00:28:11] Justification by faith means also that we have a clean record before God
[00:28:15] because we have agreed for him to cleanse us from sin
[00:28:19] We are therefore justified when we hear about and understand and accept Jesus Christ as our personal saviour
[00:28:27] when we are willing to be obedient to all of God's commandments
[00:28:30] and are willing to rely upon Christ's life-giving power
[00:28:34] Christ remains then our advocate in heaven
[00:28:38] This is why God can be just and to justify of him which believes in Jesus
[00:28:44] A person who accepts Christ not only has his sins covered
[00:28:48] but also has the power to live a life free from sin given to him
[00:28:52] We will look at how justification and sanctification relate to each other more
[00:28:57] in part 3 of these series of Radio broadcasts
[00:29:01] Now what examples does the Bible give about justification?
[00:29:06] We read in the Book of James 2 verses 23-26
[00:29:12] And the Scripture was fulfilled which says
[00:29:15] Abraham believed God and it was imputed unto him for righteousness
[00:29:20] and he was called the friend of God
[00:29:23] You see then how that by works a man is justified and not by faith alone
[00:29:30] Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works
[00:29:34] when he had received the messages and had sent them out another way
[00:29:39] for as the body without the spirit is dead
[00:29:42] so faith without works is dead also
[00:29:47] The Bible records that Abraham and Rahab were justified by God
[00:29:52] Abraham believed God and it was imputed him for righteousness
[00:29:57] To be just is to be righteous for as we have studied earlier
[00:30:01] a just person is a person who is clean from evil and free from sin
[00:30:07] When Abraham believed God he accepted Christ as a personal saviour
[00:30:12] Christ being Abraham substitute
[00:30:15] the government of God could accept Christ's righteousness instead of sin for Abraham
[00:30:21] Justification is therefore when Christ was born our sins
[00:30:26] stand in the place of those who believe in him
[00:30:30] Abraham could be counted justified by the government of God
[00:30:34] because he not only believed in Christ but relied upon Christ
[00:30:38] he acted out his belief in doing that which Christ had asked him to
[00:30:44] Christ's righteousness was therefore imputed to Abraham
[00:30:48] The Bible gives many other examples of individuals being justified by God
[00:30:53] because of their willingness to comply with the conditions of the plan of salvation
[00:30:58] Faith in the atoning makes of Christ
[00:31:01] repentance and obedience to God's will
[00:31:05] We'll have a break for some music and then come back with some closing thoughts
[00:31:32] Fire
[00:31:35] Don't you want God's bosom
[00:31:42] to be your hill
[00:31:50] Guide us over
[00:31:56] to the rock of ages
[00:32:06] Rock of ages
[00:32:13] come left for you
[00:32:26] Jesus is the way, sinner man
[00:32:45] Now's the time to take his hand
[00:32:51] He'll lead you to the promised land
[00:32:56] Jesus is the way, sinner man
[00:33:03] Jesus sees the truth, sinner man, sinner man
[00:33:11] Jesus sees the truth, sinner man
[00:33:19] You can trust his holy word
[00:33:23] Will you heed what you have learned?
[00:33:27] Sinner man
[00:33:34] Jesus sees the life, sinner man, sinner man
[00:33:41] Jesus sees the life, sinner man
[00:33:47] Yes, his blood was shed, it's true
[00:33:54] Today's the life, sinner man
[00:34:06] Jesus is a judge, sinner man, sinner man
[00:34:13] Jesus is a judge, sinner man
[00:34:20] You must stop here, judgment day
[00:34:25] To plead your case, what will you say?
[00:34:29] Because Jesus is the judge, sinner man
[00:34:37] Jesus is the one, sinner man, sinner man
[00:34:44] Jesus is the one, sinner man
[00:34:53] Let me take your knees today
[00:34:57] Your wedded sure, come judgment day
[00:35:02] Because Jesus is the one, sinner man
[00:35:09] He's waiting on you, sinner man, sinner man
[00:35:21] He's waiting on you, sinner man
[00:35:40] He's waiting on you
[00:35:58] My loving brother, don't you want God's pussy to be your killer?
[00:36:29] Lord, to the Lord of the angels
[00:36:44] Lord, to the Lord of the angels
[00:37:04] Jesus sees the life, sinner man
[00:37:43] It reads as follows
[00:37:48] As the penitent sinner contrite before God discerns Christ's atonement in his behalf and accepts this atonement as his only hope in this life and the future life, his sins are pardoned
[00:38:04] This is justification by faith
[00:38:08] Every believing soul is to conform his will entirely to God's will and keep in a state of repentance and contrition, exercising faith in the atoning merits of the Redeemer and advancing from strength to strength, from glory to glory
[00:38:26] Pardon and justification are one and the same thing
[00:38:30] Through faith the believer passes from the position of a rebel, a child of sin and Satan, to the position of a loyal subject of Christ Jesus
[00:38:40] Not because of an inherent goodness, but because Christ receives him as a child by adoption
[00:38:46] The sinner receives the forgiveness of his sins because these sins are borne by his substitute and surety
[00:38:54] The Lord speaks to his heavenly Father saying, This is my child. I reprieve him from the condemnation of death, giving him my life insurance policy, eternal life, because I have taken his place and suffered for his sins
[00:39:12] He is even my beloved son
[00:39:15] Thus the man, pardoned and clothed with the beautiful garments of Christ's righteousness, stands thoughtless before God
[00:39:23] The sinner may err but he is not cast off without mercy
[00:39:28] His only hope however is repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
[00:39:35] It is the Father's prerogative to forgive our transgressions and sins because Christ has taken upon himself our guilt and reprieved us, imputing to our season righteousness
[00:39:48] His sacrifice satisfies fully the demands of justice
[00:39:55] Justification is the opposite of condemnation
[00:39:59] God's boundless mercy is exercised toward those who are wholly undeserving
[00:40:05] He forgives transgressions and sins for the sake of Jesus, who has become the propitiation for our sins
[00:40:12] Through faith in Christ, the guilty transgressor is brought into favor with God and into the strong hope of life eternal
[00:40:22] So listeners, with all this in mind, let us pray to close the study this evening
[00:40:28] Heavenly Father, Lord I thank you for your word
[00:40:35] And I pray Lord that as we have looked at part one of this five-part series called What is Justification
[00:40:44] If you had realized Lord that justification is not just pardoned for sin alone but it's also to be cleansed from sin as well
[00:40:53] And so Lord, I pray Lord that as we continue to study your word over these next few weeks that your Holy Spirit will be of us
[00:41:03] and will make us realize of the great sacrifice that's been made for us
[00:41:08] and also of the eternal life that's been offered to us through Jesus Christ our Lord
[00:41:14] and that we can have this life daily if we put our trust in Him
[00:41:19] These things Lord, I pray and ask humbly and thankful for in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
