[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_02]: Unafraid because his armor is the best
[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: People say that I'm amazing, never face retreat
[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_02]: But they don't see the enemies who lay me at his feet
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_02]: I drop my sword and cry for just a while
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_02]: For deep inside this armor
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_02]: The warrior is a child
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I drop my sword and look up for a smile
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_02]: For deep inside this armor
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Deep inside this armor
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, deep inside this armor
[00:05:15] [SPEAKER_02]: The warrior is a child
[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Voice in the Waring Hall
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio, Enlightened in the World

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Hello, we seem to have lost sister Sharon for a moment
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's give her a minute or two to see if she's going to reconnect
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's try again this time
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_06]: Hello, sister Sharon
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Hello, can you hear us? Yes
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Good evening, once more
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_06]: You're alive on the Voice in the Wilderness Internet Radio
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_06]: We'll start again
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_06]: How are you this evening?
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_07]: Doing great
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm doing fine, thank you
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_07]: How are you?
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm fine, thank God it's great
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Praise the Lord
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_06]: We seem to be having a little bit of trouble with reception tonight
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_06]: I'm fine, thank God it's great
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_06]: But we'll see how it goes by God's grace
[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, tonight sister Sharon will be discussing these questions together
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_06]: What is work?
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_06]: What directions does God give us about work?
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_06]: How has sin affected our work?
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_06]: What reform is needed with work?
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And how can we practically carry this out?
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_06]: So before we start our discussion this evening
[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Let's have a word of prayer together
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_06]: You mind opening the prayer please sister Sharon
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes
[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_07]: Our Father in Heaven
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Again we are approaching you because you are the God of all wisdom
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_07]: I thank you that you are wisdom
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_07]: And everything that we have comes from you
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_07]: From your hand
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_07]: And I ask right now that you will be with us
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Be with each listener
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Be with brother John and be with myself
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_07]: So that Lord the words are clearly understood
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_07]: And that I will be able to articulate them in a way that will be pleasing to you
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_07]: I pray dear Father that you'll bring all these things together
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_07]: And that all may benefit from it
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_07]: In Jesus name, amen
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Amen
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Well sister Sharon starting from the beginning
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_06]: What is work?
[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_07]: Well work obviously is being engaged in physical or mental activity
[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_07]: In order to achieve some sort of result which would be work
[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Genesis 2.15 says in the Lord God took the man
[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_07]: And put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_07]: So work is a labor as God describes it as this
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_07]: And he asked these nine ten
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_07]: Do it with thy might
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_07]: For there is no work nor device nor knowledge
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Nor wisdom in the grave with it thou goest
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_07]: So he says that it's that which our hand finds to do
[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_07]: Colossians 3.23 says whatever you do work heartily
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_07]: As for the Lord and not for men
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_07]: Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward
[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_07]: You are serving the Lord Christ
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_07]: So in all that we do
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_07]: We're serving the Lord
[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_07]: The physical bodies that he made
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_07]: We are too, we are but stewards of
[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_07]: And all the things that we do should find his approval
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_07]: We should be asking him Lord is this what you would have my hands to do at this time
[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_07]: Is this what you would have me to be thinking on at this time
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_07]: So all work is about what God has given to mankind
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_07]: In order to cause a development that needs to take place both physically and mentally for mankind
[00:11:19] Yes
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_06]: I told to the agree and I just thought I'd share a couple of texts as well
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_06]: This too is add on
[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_06]: And starting again in Genesis chapter two and verse two
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_06]: And it says and on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_06]: And he rested on the seventh day from all his work notice again it says which he had made
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Thus the Bible teaches us firstly that work is something that God had made
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_06]: Thus we see work is an act of making something
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_06]: It's in from what the scriptures it says
[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And then there was another two Bible texts that I thought that I'd share
[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_06]: Just to add a foundation to the start as well which is basically covered
[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_06]: But just another couple Bible texts it says Genesis three seventeen
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_06]: And unto Adam he said because there was harkened unto the voice of thy wife
[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And as eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee saying thou shall not eat of it
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Cursed is the ground for thy sake in sorrow shall not eat of it all the days of thy life
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_06]: Not that work sorrow
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_06]: We read in the book of Genesis chapter five and verse twenty nine
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_06]: And he called his name Noah saying this same shall comfort us concerning our work
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And toil of our hands because of the ground which the Lord have cursed
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_06]: And so I share those two texts because the first time the Bible uses the word work
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_06]: With relation to man it defines work as a toil of man's hands
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Now here's the interesting part that same word toil using Genesis five twenty nine also means sorrow
[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And it's used in Genesis three seventeen
[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And so I've just mentioned it because obviously as we know before sin
[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Work wasn't man's work wasn't very he didn't have to toil
[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_06]: But after sin you know basically the Lord had basically stated that man needs to work hard in essence you see
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_06]: So I just thought to interject that I just had discovered that in my study basically
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_06]: So you know I and even in Matthew eleven twenty eight Jesus says come on to me all you that labor
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And I have you laden and I will give you rest you see so so there we see that with labor is one needs rest
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_06]: So work is something that you need rest from you see and so I just want to interject these texts
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_06]: And these thoughts as we start but I'm not going to really interject too much more because we'd really like to hear what you have to say
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_07]: So I have a lot of Bible scriptures that are going to be coming up too
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_07]: So I hope the listeners have brought their Bible. Oh, yes
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Have them oh yes we so do I because we encourage them to have the pen and paper ready to write down the text
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_06]: It's okay. Well, let's carry on. I won't say any more thing more now
[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_06]: What directions does God give us about work
[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay, well I'll begin in Colossians 3 22 it says you are servants who are owned by someone
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_07]: Obey your owners work hard for them all the time
[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Not just when they're watching you work for them as you would for the Lord because you honor God
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_07]: So when we obey the authority figures in our lives we're ultimately serving Christ
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_07]: We're working for him and you're showing what he is like to your employer
[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes or those who work under you and I find that if I keep in mind that I am working for God
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Then I will enjoy my work and I will do it heartily
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_07]: Now Colossians 3 23 and I'm going to be giving a lot of scriptures here
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_07]: It says whatever you do do it heartily is unto the Lord and not unto men
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're to do our work well and we're to do it for God's sake once again and not man's
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_07]: Then we have 1 Corinthians 3
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_07]: I'm sorry 1031 it says whether they eat or drink or whatsoever you do all do all to the glory of God
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're not to work to be noticed
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes
[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_07]: But rather than glorified from the work that we do
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_07]: And Proverbs 16 3 says commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're to seek wisdom from God for our work and he'll help us to figure it out
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_07]: How many times did I I remember I was doing an after school program one time for a school
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_07]: And I didn't know what to do with these kids sometimes you know first we had to begin inside
[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_07]: So what am I going to do with them what I did was I what I did was I pardon me
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_07]: I have to get up and move because my phone just told me that I needed a clearer signal
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_05]: No problem
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_07]: So I moved it closer to our box here
[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_05]: That's fine
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay here we are
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_07]: So I would tell the students okay I want everyone to sit down we're going to do a craft project
[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And I'd walk up to that cabinet and literally before I opened it said Lord show me what to do
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_07]: I'd open up the cabinet and every single time I would come up with something and people would ask me parents
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_07]: How do you come up with these things?
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_07]: I said it's the Lord helps me he is my helper he would help me every single day
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_07]: I could open up that cabinet and find some things and put them together and they would be something to honor him
[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_07]: So we have to seek God's wisdom in our work he's the one who figures it out not us
[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_07]: But we have to believe that he will do that
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Proverbs 18 9
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_07]: He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a waster you know being lazy is going to cause us to lack what we need when we need it
[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_07]: Then Ephesians 4 28 says let him that stole steal no more but rather let him labor or work working with his hands the thing which is good that he may have to give to him that need it
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're to work for things that we get we're not to steal them or expect them to come to us free
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_07]: Amen
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_07]: We're to do our best Paul was a tent maker and when he was not preaching he had to still do things to do provide for himself
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_07]: Second Thelonians 3 10 for even when we were with you this we commanded you that if any would not work neither should he eat
[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_07]: So everyone should work for their food in some way
[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_07]: 1 Corinthians 15 10 but by the grace of God I am what I am and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain but I labored more abundantly than they all yet not I but the grace of God which was with me
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_07]: So his laboring was given to him by the grace of God he was able to do it through the power of God
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_07]: So he labored for souls and we're to labor for souls as well and we're also to expect our strength to come from God
[00:19:43] Yes
[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Matthew 11 28 come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and you shared this and I will give you rest
[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_07]: So again we need rest from work mentally
[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_07]: physically and spiritually
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_07]: First Thessalonians 11
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_07]: And that you study to be quiet and to do your own business and to work with your own hands as we commanded you
[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're to stick to our own business and we're to do our own work
[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_07]: We're not to be busy bodies and other peoples or worrying about how they're doing their work
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_07]: For everyone is watching us if we claim to be Christ
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_07]: You know if we're here
[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Our example
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Delay six four and five but let every man prove his own work
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_07]: And then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone and not in another for every man shall bear his own burden
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're not to expect others to do our work for us. We're to do our own work
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_07]: And as we do that work we can have a rejoicing a satisfaction to see it complete
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_07]: You know I'm an artist and when I would paint pictures you know and I did some paintings actually for the widest state
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_07]: You know and I did a lot of things and and as I did these paintings
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_07]: You know I I could glory in God realizing that he had used my hands these finite hands
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_07]: You know what I'm saying that God had put his hands in and when I was done I could grab my mouth and go gasp
[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_07]: And go wow God look what you did
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_07]: I know you did that because I could never have done it
[00:21:53] [SPEAKER_07]: And he is just so amazing what he will do with us and through us when we truly believe and commit our work to him
[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Proverbs 1423 says in the labor in all labor there is profit
[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_07]: But the talk of the lips tended only to penery
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_07]: So when we waste our time talking and not working
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_07]: It it will tend to you know working has a reward but but pen or poverty extreme
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_07]: So passing the time talking will lead to extreme poverty whereas work will give us a reward
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_07]: So what is charity?
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_07]: First Corinthians 1614 let all your things be done with charity
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_07]: What is charity? It's a God like love it's a God love
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_07]: So do your work out of love let that be the motivation
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Let God work through you and then it becomes true charity
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_07]: Proverbs 21 5 the thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness
[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_07]: But of everyone that is hasty only to want
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_07]: You know we've got to be diligent even in our thinking and in our work
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_07]: Because then if we allow God to lead us we will have plenty
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_07]: But if we're just hasty and and just run out there and try to do something
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_07]: If I just run in the garden and start throwing seeds
[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_07]: Trust me I will not have a harvest I might have one here and there
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_07]: But when I really till my soil when I really make sure that I have good things put into it
[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_07]: And then I put the seed in according to the directions
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_07]: Then I can expect to get in fact I expect to get something for my work
[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_07]: So we need to take time and do a thorough work
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_07]: Not thinking that oh we'll just do it like this and no one will know
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_07]: No one will see you know eventually you'll see the results
[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_07]: And others will see the results as well
[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_07]: So another one says he'd become a poor that deal with with a slack hand
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_07]: But the hand with the diligent make it rich
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_07]: So when you work hard you'll have something as a result for it
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_07]: And that's what I have to share concerning that question
[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes well I need not add anything to those Bible texts
[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_06]: It's more than enough sister Sharon for people to ponder and meditate upon our men to that
[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Excellent now then
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_06]: How has sin affected our work?
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Well sin has affected it in so many ways
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Work has gone from labor with the hands to the computer
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_07]: And almost all mine nowadays you know things are run by computers
[00:25:13] [SPEAKER_07]: And cars are built by computers and you know just so many things are done so differently
[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_07]: Now you don't need people to take your tickets
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_07]: You know the ticket comes out of a machine
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_07]: You know we don't need laborers to do all the things that used to be done
[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_07]: They even have vacuum cleaners that you can just program and they will go all over your house and vacuum
[00:25:41] [SPEAKER_07]: I've seen people with them in their homes
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_07]: I wonder about that I don't think it's so thorough
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Then you know even at the gas stations or gas pumps
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_07]: You know now there's no one that needs to pump your gas anymore
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_07]: You put your card in and it comes out
[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Things are just so mechanical now
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_07]: It has really affected
[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_07]: The Bible tells us in Genesis 319 and you were sharing this too
[00:26:15] [SPEAKER_07]: In the sweat of thy face shall thou eat bread
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Till thou return unto the ground
[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_07]: For out of it was thou taken from dust thou art
[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_07]: And unto dust shall thou return
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_07]: And by the way you know that wasn't a curse but it became a reality of cause to effect
[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Sin being the cause
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_07]: You know Adam was made from the dust and he was going to return to the dust
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_07]: Someone made him there was work involved in that
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_07]: I like to tell people you know and God made Adam
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_07]: He didn't just form a body out of clay like I have as an artist
[00:27:03] [SPEAKER_07]: But he was making every minute thing from veins and cells and glands and skin and everything
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_07]: He was making all of that and then he was setting laws in place
[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_07]: That you know just like when a man makes a machine
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_07]: When this happens it's going to cause that to happen
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_07]: So he put laws in the body so that that machinery
[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_07]: That flesh machinery would work according to his laws
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_07]: You know you have to drink water to keep it going
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Just like you have to put gas in a car to keep it running
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_07]: And to lubricate you know
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_07]: So there were laws that were set in place
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_07]: You know he was a great worker
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know here Adam was made from that dust
[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_07]: He would return to the dust and guess what
[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_07]: He had to labor in the dust for his food
[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_07]: In order to eat bread now
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_07]: So God gave a lesson as well
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Man was originally a garden and he continued after sin to labor in the fields
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_07]: You know as well as you know to pick from the orchards
[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_07]: But now you know he had to do more even with the trees and everything else
[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_07]: Cain was the first born of Adam and he was a tiller of the soil
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_07]: After murdering his brother Abel he was told that the ground would be cursed
[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_07]: It was no longer going to yield to him
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Genesis 4 9
[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_07]: And God said unto Cain where is Abel thy brother
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_07]: And he said I know not am I my brother's keeper
[00:28:48] [SPEAKER_07]: And he said what has thou done
[00:28:52] [SPEAKER_07]: The voice of your brother's blood cryeth unto me from the ground
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_07]: And now thou art cursed from the earth
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_07]: When thou tillest the ground it shall not hence yield unto thee her strength
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_07]: A fugitive and vagabond shall thou be in the earth
[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Well Cain left his family and later he took a wife
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_07]: And he had a son that he named Enoch
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_07]: He built, he's not the same Enoch that walked with God
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_07]: And was taken to heaven
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_07]: This Enoch, I mean Cain built a city and named it after his son Enoch
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_07]: They became city dwellers
[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_07]: Remember the ground was not going to yield to him anymore
[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_07]: So he left the tilling
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Now he was building
[00:29:47] [SPEAKER_07]: And work for him and his posterity seemed to have changed to that of building
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_07]: I find it interesting that those who followed Cain's line
[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_07]: That is without God they built cities and towers
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_07]: You know a tower, God's people appeared to dwell in tents
[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_07]: And they lived off of the land and they had sheep and goats and those sort of things
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Adam knew about the wickedness of the city, I mean Abraham
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Without laboring in the soil once they built their cities they became more idle
[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_07]: Those cities became so wicked that they had to be destroyed
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_07]: Even the ones in Cainin
[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_07]: I mean that later the patriarchs had traveled to
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Later when the children of Israel entered Cainin
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_07]: They saw what did they find city after city
[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_07]: And some of the people went from a simpler life now to a more complex one
[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_07]: By dwelling in the city
[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_07]: You can begin to see a change in the attitude of the people after time
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_07]: Especially after asking for a king
[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_07]: The king put them to work
[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_07]: And for much of his own gratification for his gardens and fields
[00:31:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And his needs
[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_07]: And men were also drafted to the army and women
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_07]: You know they were working the fields
[00:31:18] [SPEAKER_07]: People in debt sometimes sold their children into slavery
[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_07]: They had to work for landowners etc
[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_07]: And all the way you find this to the 20th century
[00:31:32] [SPEAKER_07]: You find children doing adult work
[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Almost a hundred years ago my mother was taken out of school
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_07]: In the third grade to care for her nieces and nephews
[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Due to both their parents it was her older sister
[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_07]: They both died from tuberculosis
[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_07]: Child labor became very common around the turn of the century
[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_07]: And because the families need more money now to survive
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_07]: Had they continued in the simpler life
[00:32:04] [SPEAKER_07]: And the country and growing their own food
[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_07]: And keeping it simple
[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_07]: It would not have been so hard to make it
[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Of course you had a lot of people coming into the country
[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_07]: As well from other countries
[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_07]: At least in the United States
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_07]: In England child labor was very common
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes it was
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_07]: And at the age of 10 to 15
[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_07]: They were gainful workers
[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_07]: They made a lot
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_07]: At that time these children comprised 6% of the labor force in England
[00:32:41] [SPEAKER_07]: There were no national laws that governed child labor
[00:32:45] [SPEAKER_07]: And while some states enacted and enforced such laws
[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Most did not by 1999
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Federal and state laws began to regulate child labor
[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_07]: And they couldn't work full time under the age of 16
[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_07]: A new term came up too, workaholics
[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_07]: That was coined referring to people who spend a lot of time on work activities
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_07]: They're preoccupied with work
[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_07]: Even outside of working hours
[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_07]: They work more than what is expected of them to finish their time
[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_07]: Well there's a lot of things that cause this internal pressure
[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_07]: As well as external
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_07]: For example, other research found that external factors such as acknowledgments from others
[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_07]: Or avoidance of criticism can reinforce it
[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_07]: According to Healthline
[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_07]: They said putting in long hours at the work office even when not needed
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_07]: This is how it's made
[00:33:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Losing sleep to engage in work activities or finished tasks
[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Being obsessed with work related success
[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_07]: Having intense fear of failure at work
[00:34:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Being paranoid about work related performance
[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_07]: Disintegrating personal relationships because of work
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Families suffering
[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Relationships suffering
[00:34:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Having a defensive attitude towards others about their work
[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_07]: This is my work
[00:34:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Using work as a way to avoid relationships
[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Some of them, I'm busy
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Because they don't want to engage with people
[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_07]: Or come into a closer relationship
[00:34:42] [SPEAKER_07]: Even a Roman people
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Working to avoid dealing with crises like death
[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_07]: Divorce or financial trouble
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_07]: They think that that will be the key
[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_07]: Whatever the reason
[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_07]: We can certainly be sure that it's going to affect the family
[00:34:59] [SPEAKER_07]: So how does a lack of work or activity affect your body?
[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_07]: When the body is inactive
[00:35:07] [SPEAKER_07]: The blood flows sluggishly
[00:35:10] [SPEAKER_07]: The muscles will decrease in size
[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Just like when a cast is put on a broken arm
[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Also physical exercise and the free use of air and sunlight
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_07]: These blessings from heaven
[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_07]: God is given to us
[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_07]: When we stay inside and we don't go outside
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_07]: We don't receive that blessing
[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_07]: That life giving strength
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_07]: If many invalids had it
[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_07]: They would recover
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_07]: Work is a blessing, not a curse
[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_07]: Even through COVID
[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_07]: It would have been a blessing to put people outside in the fresh air
[00:35:55] [SPEAKER_07]: And even if they were to engage in something so simple out there
[00:36:01] [SPEAKER_07]: What a blessing, not a curse
[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_07]: Diligent labor keeps many young minds and old minds
[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_07]: From the snares of the enemy
[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Because he will find some mischief or idle hands to do
[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_07]: So we're not to be ashamed of work, of honest toil
[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_07]: That's ennobling
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_07]: While the hands are engaged in most common things
[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_07]: The mind is to be filled with high and holy thoughts
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_07]: It's so much easier
[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_07]: Well, that's what I have to say about that dear John
[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, I'm into that
[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_06]: Again there's nothing more for me to add
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_06]: It's comprehensively covered
[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_06]: So now then
[00:36:49] [SPEAKER_06]: What reform is needed with work?
[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Well
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_07]: We'll go to Colossians 3, 23 and 24 one more time
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_07]: What so ever ye do
[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Do it heartily
[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_07]: As to the Lord and not to men
[00:37:07] [SPEAKER_07]: Knowing that of the Lord
[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_07]: Ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_07]: For ye serve the Lord Christ
[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_07]: Matthew 20 shares this parable
[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_07]: And I'm going to read it from the NLT
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Because it uses the word work
[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_07]: For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Who went out early one morning to hire workers for his vineyard
[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_07]: He agreed to pay the normal daily wage
[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_07]: And sent them out to work
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_07]: At nine o'clock in the morning
[00:37:43] [SPEAKER_07]: He was passing through the marketplace
[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_07]: And some were, some people
[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_07]: And saw some people standing around doing nothing
[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_07]: So he hired them telling them that he would pay them
[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_07]: Whatever was right at the end of the day
[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_07]: So they went to work in the vineyard
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_07]: At noon and again at three o'clock
[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_07]: He did the same thing
[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_07]: At five o'clock that afternoon
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_07]: He was in town again and saw more people standing around
[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_07]: He asked them, why haven't you been working today?
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_07]: They replied, because no one hired us
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_07]: The landowner told them then go out
[00:38:23] [SPEAKER_07]: And join the others in my vineyard
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_07]: That evening he told the foreman to call the workers
[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_07]: And paid them
[00:38:31] [SPEAKER_07]: Beginning with the last workers first
[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_07]: Then those hired at five were paid
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_07]: And each received a full day's wage
[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_07]: When those hired came to get their pay
[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_07]: They assumed they would receive more
[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_07]: But they too were paid a day's wage
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_07]: When they received their pay
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_07]: They protested the owner
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_07]: Those people worked only one hour
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_07]: And yet you paid them just as much as you paid us
[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_07]: Who worked all day in the scorching heat
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_07]: He answered one of them, friend
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_07]: I haven't been unfair
[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Didn't you agree to work all day for the usual wage?
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_07]: Take your money and go
[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_07]: I want to pay this last worker the same as you
[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Is it against the law for me to do what I want with my money?
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_07]: Should you be jealous because I am kind to others?
[00:39:34] [SPEAKER_07]: So those who are last now will be first then
[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_07]: And those who are first will be last
[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, we have to keep in mind
[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_07]: That we're not to worry about what others do
[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_07]: We need to work
[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_07]: And that's simply what God has given to us to do
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know, that's a work for others to know about Jesus as well
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_07]: That they may be acquainted with the peace that he has given to us
[00:40:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And we should have that peace if we labor for him
[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Revelation 22, I want this to keep in mind
[00:40:19] [SPEAKER_07]: And behold, I come quickly
[00:40:22] [SPEAKER_07]: And my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be
[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, he is speaking very much of a spiritual work
[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_07]: But it is going to involve all work
[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, whatever we did, we did it heartily to the Lord
[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Colossians 3.3 says, and whatsoever you do, do it heartily
[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_07]: And I just wanted to share that one more time
[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Proverbs 10.5
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_07]: He that gathereth in summer is a wise son
[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_07]: But he that sleepeth in harvest is the cause of shame
[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, priorities have to be put in order
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_07]: That's one of the things we have to do
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_07]: We have to put our priorities in order
[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_07]: And we have to ask ourselves certain questions
[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_07]: Does my work provide for my needs? Will it?
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Does it provide for my family's needs?
[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_07]: Is it taking away from their peace?
[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_07]: And I'm not saying just, you know, maybe a jealous wife
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_07]: Just simply wanting to control or be simply the forefront
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_07]: But this is speaking of those who have wisely chosen a mate
[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, wife
[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_07]: That, you know, we have to consider them as well
[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_07]: And in our choices of job is our job going to take us away from the family
[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_07]: So that one is left to raise the children
[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_07]: One is too tired to do, to have family worship
[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_07]: One is overworked and doesn't feel like eating
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_07]: After maybe a wife has done all these things and made a meal as well
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_07]: And they're just like, oh, I already grabbed something on the way home
[00:42:27] [SPEAKER_07]: You know
[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_07]: There are a lot of things that you have to consider
[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_07]: That you consider about the other
[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_07]: And priorities have to be all about will my work honor God
[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_07]: When we consider our families
[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_07]: When we consider our parents even, you know, as they're aging
[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, all of these things have to be thought about
[00:42:52] [SPEAKER_07]: Can I provide a home for my bride?
[00:43:00] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, and when we have children, you know
[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_07]: Am I going to be able to have transportation for them?
[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_07]: Will I be able to provide the food and things
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_07]: But not only that
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_07]: Will I have something for my neighbor who knocks at the door at midnight, so to speak
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, are we going to be able to take care of them as well?
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_07]: So that's what I wanted to share about that
[00:43:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, thank you, Sister Sharon
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_06]: And I'd also like to share again
[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Exodus chapter 20 verses 9 to 11
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Because the Bible says, six days shall thou labour
[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And do all thy work
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_06]: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_06]: In it thou shall not do any work
[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_06]: Thou, nor thy son nor thy daughter
[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_06]: Thy man servant, nor thy maid servant
[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_06]: Nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_06]: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth
[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_06]: The sea and all that in them is
[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And rested the seventh day
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_06]: And I just thought that, you know, another reform
[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, one of the most important reforms that's needed
[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_06]: In harmony with what you said is Sabbath reform
[00:44:18] [SPEAKER_06]: You see, because many people are just working away
[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_06]: Exactly doing all the things that you have spoken of
[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_06]: And trampling on the seventh day Sabbath
[00:44:30] [SPEAKER_06]: The work is first
[00:44:32] [SPEAKER_06]: And that Sabbath rest is what's needed
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_06]: As you said, to bring the family together
[00:44:38] [SPEAKER_06]: To spend time, nurturing relationships with husband and wife
[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, parents and children, brethren, you see
[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_06]: But yet, as it says in Isaiah basically
[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_06]: Chapter 58 verses 13 to 14
[00:44:54] [SPEAKER_06]: The Lord says, if thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath
[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_06]: From doing thy pleasure on my holy day
[00:45:00] [SPEAKER_06]: And call the Sabbath a delight
[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_06]: The holy of the Lord honourable
[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And shall honour him
[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_06]: Not doing thy known ways, nor finding thy known pleasure
[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_06]: Nor speaking thy known words
[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_06]: Then shall thou die like thyself in the Lord
[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_06]: Delight thyself in the Lord, sorry
[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_06]: And I will cause thee to ride upon the high paces of the earth
[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_06]: And feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father
[00:45:22] [SPEAKER_06]: For the mouth of the Lord have spoken it
[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_06]: And listeners in all the areas that Sister Sharon has spoken of
[00:45:29] [SPEAKER_06]: With work reform, this especially
[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Once we are faithfully keeping God's Sabbath
[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_06]: And give him the time that he asks us to give him
[00:45:42] [SPEAKER_06]: And all the issues that Sister Sharon has spoken of
[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_06]: Will be resolved, you see
[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_06]: Because that's the crown in day of the week
[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_06]: You see
[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_06]: And so I just thought to interject that as well
[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_06]: As I was studying this
[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_06]: And so these are things for you to study about
[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_06]: Sister Sharon has so clearly pointed out
[00:46:03] [SPEAKER_06]: Many of the social issues that many of you may be going through
[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_06]: And we're directing you to Christ and to
[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_06]: Abedience to his word
[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_06]: And if we live the simple life that God wants us to
[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_06]: As Sister Sharon shared earlier
[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_06]: City living and complex living is not from God
[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_06]: God's calling us to a simple, loving, pure
[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_06]: But powerful life
[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_06]: And Sister Sharon has shared how
[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Even when she was, as she mentioned
[00:46:31] [SPEAKER_06]: You see, and I'm hoping that you can catch the spirit of
[00:46:34] [SPEAKER_06]: The life that God has led her to
[00:46:37] [SPEAKER_06]: She puts God first, you see
[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's the principle
[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_06]: If you put God first in a prayerful frame of mind
[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_06]: You'll find that life is so much easier and happier
[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_06]: See
[00:46:49] [SPEAKER_06]: And so Sister Sharon
[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, carry on
[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_07]: If I can say something
[00:46:55] [SPEAKER_07]: You know there are a lot of people that have fears
[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_07]: A lot of fears of losing their jobs
[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_07]: Because of the Sabbath
[00:47:03] [SPEAKER_07]: And I'd like to share a couple of testimonies
[00:47:05] [SPEAKER_07]: My father, he did lose his job
[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Because of the Sabbath
[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_07]: And it meant that he had to change to a different work
[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_07]: My dad had 11 children
[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_05]: Right
[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know that was a hard decision
[00:47:25] [SPEAKER_07]: But I will tell you this
[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_07]: My father trusted in God
[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_07]: And he moved according to what God had shared with him
[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes
[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, through time
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_07]: He never recovered fully about his
[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, having enough money after that
[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_07]: And my mother went to work
[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, after the youngest was older now
[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_07]: And she went to work
[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_07]: And he went to work
[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_07]: But you know they lost their house
[00:47:59] [SPEAKER_07]: They had to rent after that
[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_07]: They rented
[00:48:03] [SPEAKER_07]: But let me tell you something
[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_07]: My father decided he was going to move
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_07]: From the San Fernando Valley to Altadena
[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_07]: Because he wanted us closer to our church
[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes
[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Because we could see us starting to move away from God
[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_07]: And I was one
[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know, my parents moved to past Altadena
[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_07]: They rented a house
[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_07]: And they went through an agency
[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_07]: And one day
[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_07]: This was a seven bedroom house now
[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_07]: And one day the owner contacted my parents
[00:48:45] [SPEAKER_07]: Through the agency and said
[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_07]: I would like to meet you
[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_07]: My parents went to the place where they were
[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_07]: And where she lived
[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_07]: And it was in a very wealthy neighborhood
[00:48:57] [SPEAKER_07]: And the lady met my parents for the first time
[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_07]: And said, Mr. Pibern
[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_07]: The Lord has impressed me
[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_07]: That I am to give you my house
[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And she gave my parents that house
[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Lock, Stock and Barrel
[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen
[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_07]: They owned nothing on it
[00:49:20] [SPEAKER_07]: And even after my dad passed
[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_07]: Some years later
[00:49:24] [SPEAKER_07]: My mother was able to sell that house
[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_07]: And move out to the country near my brother
[00:49:29] [SPEAKER_07]: And she was able to pay cash for that house
[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_07]: Amen
[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_07]: And I'm telling you
[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_07]: I have seen God work in the most powerful ways
[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_07]: When it came to doing what God said to do
[00:49:44] [SPEAKER_07]: And putting him first
[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_07]: My mother worked a job
[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_07]: And they decided that they wanted her to work on Sabbath
[00:49:51] [SPEAKER_07]: And my mother said, I cannot do that
[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_07]: And they said, well
[00:49:57] [SPEAKER_07]: If you don't do it
[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_07]: You're going to have to be fired
[00:50:02] [SPEAKER_07]: And my mother said, well
[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_07]: I guess you have to fire me
[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_07]: And so my mother was dismissed
[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_07]: And she went home
[00:50:10] [SPEAKER_07]: I'll tell you
[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_07]: A day or two later
[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_07]: She got a phone call
[00:50:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Pie, you come on back
[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_07]: And you can keep your Sabbath
[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Because you are a good worker
[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Amen
[00:50:22] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know that's key
[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_07]: We have to do the best at what we do
[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_07]: If we do it as unto the Lord
[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_07]: Others will take notice of it
[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_07]: They knew that nobody worked as hard as my mother
[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_07]: And as well as she did
[00:50:35] [SPEAKER_07]: And so they were willing to bend their rules
[00:50:39] [SPEAKER_07]: So that my mother could have a job back there again
[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know the Lord's hand is not slack
[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_07]: He can keep his promises
[00:50:48] [SPEAKER_07]: And if we do what you read in
[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_07]: In Isaiah 58, 13 and 14
[00:50:57] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, here's promise
[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_07]: That he will do all these things for us
[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_07]: If we turn our foot away from the Sabbath
[00:51:05] [SPEAKER_07]: So I'm so glad that you brought that out
[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Yes, I'm into that
[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_06]: You know, we've basically
[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_06]: We've really covered also
[00:51:14] [SPEAKER_06]: How we can practically carry out the reform
[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Which is basically
[00:51:18] [SPEAKER_06]: Question 5 of his moved into it
[00:51:20] [SPEAKER_06]: We should simply to do what God's will is
[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_06]: Isn't it Sister Sharon?
[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_06]: That's really what it is
[00:51:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Listeners, you know
[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_06]: And Sister Sharon has given her own personal testimony
[00:51:32] [SPEAKER_06]: Because you know, there are many who are listening
[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_06]: Or who may be listening
[00:51:36] [SPEAKER_06]: Who might read God's word
[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_06]: But who are fearful to carry out God's word
[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_06]: Who have never had experimental religion
[00:51:42] [SPEAKER_06]: You see, the Lord says taste and see that
[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_06]: God wants us to test him
[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_06]: You see?
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Absolutely
[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_06]: Because how are you going to know
[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_06]: That God's word is true
[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_06]: Unless you take him at his word
[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_06]: And test him
[00:51:55] [SPEAKER_06]: And Sister Sharon has shared how her
[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Both her dad and her mom
[00:51:59] [SPEAKER_06]: That they tested the Lord
[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_06]: And he came through for them all the time
[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Amen
[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_04]: You see?
[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_06]: And that's our testimony
[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_06]: That's hers and that's mine
[00:52:07] [SPEAKER_06]: That's even the whole reason why this radio station exists
[00:52:11] [SPEAKER_06]: Because we went forward by faith
[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_06]: And the Lord has brought it into existence
[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_06]: And you're receiving the blessing
[00:52:17] [SPEAKER_06]: Because we've gone forward
[00:52:19] [SPEAKER_06]: Carrying out God's word
[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_06]: Work, I should say by faith
[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_06]: So Sister Sharon, I don't know if you've got any more thoughts
[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_06]: Before we have a break for some music
[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_07]: I will give some closing thoughts
[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay, what I'll do
[00:52:35] [SPEAKER_06]: I'll have a break for some music
[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_06]: And then we'll come back with some closing thoughts
[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_06]: Okay
[00:53:37] Thank you
[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Flows from Calvary's mountain
[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_01]: In the cross
[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_01]: In the cross
[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_01]: In my glory head
[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So shall find
[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Rest beyond the rail
[00:54:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Near the cross
[00:54:24] [SPEAKER_01]: A trembling soul
[00:54:28] [SPEAKER_01]: The sea found me
[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_01]: The bright star
[00:54:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Sheds its beams
[00:54:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Around me
[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_01]: In the cross
[00:54:59] [SPEAKER_01]: In my glory ever
[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Till my tortured soul
[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Shall find
[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Rest beyond the rail
[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Near the cross
[00:55:55] [SPEAKER_01]: A watch and weeping trusting
[00:56:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Age
[00:56:10] [SPEAKER_01]: The golden strand
[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Just beyond
[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_01]: In my glory ever
[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Till my raptured soul
[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Shall find
[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Rest beyond the rail
[00:57:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Voice in the ring
[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_06]: Working as God Directs
[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_06]: Sister Sharon, can we have some closing thoughts please?
[00:57:33] [SPEAKER_07]: Yes, one of the closing thoughts I wanted to give is
[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_07]: Parents begin early with your children
[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_07]: Little toddlers can even be taught to put little playthings away
[00:57:47] [SPEAKER_07]: I would take my son's hands
[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_07]: And I would have him pick up his little toys
[00:57:53] [SPEAKER_07]: And put them in the place that they belong
[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_07]: And also, you know, to this very day he keeps a tidy place
[00:58:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Because I taught him when he was young
[00:58:05] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, it wasn't in any hard way
[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_07]: I made it fun for him
[00:58:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And mothers shouldn't be picking up
[00:58:13] [SPEAKER_07]: What their children are able to pick up
[00:58:15] [SPEAKER_07]: You're teaching them to work early
[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_07]: And when they're done with one item
[00:58:21] [SPEAKER_07]: You know, don't bring out it
[00:58:22] [SPEAKER_07]: Let them bring out a new one until they put the old one away
[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_07]: And you know your older children can be given little responsibilities
[00:58:30] [SPEAKER_07]: Little cleaning things in the home
[00:58:33] [SPEAKER_07]: There's no need for a home to be messy
[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_07]: When you have children
[00:58:38] [SPEAKER_07]: It's not just one person there or two people there
[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_07]: But maybe you have two or three children that can help
[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_07]: Also, I wanted to share that God has promised wisdom
[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_07]: In all these things
[00:58:52] [SPEAKER_07]: We can bank on it
[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_07]: Where do we begin?
[00:58:56] [SPEAKER_07]: Always with God, seeking his wisdom
[00:58:59] [SPEAKER_07]: James 1-5-8 says, if any of you lack wisdom
[00:59:03] [SPEAKER_07]: Let him ask of God
[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_07]: That give it to all men liberally
[00:59:08] [SPEAKER_07]: And afraid it not
[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_07]: And it shall be given him
[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_07]: But let him ask in faith
[00:59:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Nothing wavering
[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_07]: Where he that waver it
[00:59:17] [SPEAKER_07]: Was like a wave of the sea
[00:59:19] [SPEAKER_07]: Driven with the wind and taunts
[00:59:22] [SPEAKER_07]: But let not that man think
[00:59:24] [SPEAKER_07]: He shall receive anything of the Lord
[00:59:28] [SPEAKER_07]: A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways
[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_07]: So God wants us to expect wisdom
[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_07]: And how is he going to give it to us liberally?
[00:59:38] [SPEAKER_07]: He is going to give us exactly what we need
[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_07]: And when we need it
[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_06]: Amen
[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Amen
[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_06]: Well, Sister Shaman, should we have the closing prayer for this evening?
[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay
[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_07]: Our Father in Heaven
[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_07]: We thank you for being with us
[00:59:55] [SPEAKER_07]: Says we asked you
[00:59:59] [SPEAKER_07]: We believe, dear Lord, that you have promised to be with us
[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_07]: When we invite your presence
[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_07]: And Lord, I'm asking that you be with every listener
[01:00:09] [SPEAKER_07]: That is heard
[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_07]: And may we take these things to heart
[01:00:13] [SPEAKER_07]: Dear Lord, you have a work for us to do even now
[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_07]: And that work is to share Jesus with everyone
[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_07]: And Lord, as brought out by Dear Brother John
[01:00:25] [SPEAKER_07]: The Sabbath is a part of that
[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_07]: There is a rest from work
[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_07]: And also, dear Lord, there is peace
[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_07]: And a joy that comes from obeying you
[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_07]: Please be with every listener
[01:00:40] [SPEAKER_07]: Parents, even children
[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_07]: And I pray to your God that we take these things to heart
[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_07]: Bless us, Lord, until the next week
[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_07]: I thank you once again for the opportunity
[01:00:53] [SPEAKER_07]: Of sharing in Jesus' name
[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_07]: Amen
[01:00:57] [SPEAKER_06]: Amen
[01:00:59] [SPEAKER_06]: Sister Shaman, thank you very much
